After a tow strap for winter, just something to help pull any cars out if they get stuck in any snow we might have and for on the shoots if we get stuck in fields.

Looking at

Tow Rope / Towing Road Recovery Strap with Two Shackles 4 Metre 8 Ton SM09 | eBay

or

TOWING TOW RECOVERY SLING STRAP 20 TON 3 METRES | eBay

and buying some shackles to go on it.

Or a cheap rope that has a bit more stretch in it

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heavy-Dut...5519?pt=UK_Recovery_Tools&hash=item1c378ebc6f

Are either any good or?

Just gone for a cheap 4t one as I don't want to rip the bumper off a car that isnt designed to be towed under extreme force. Less force will be used on the rope so if it was to snap it should in theory just pop and drop to the floor rather than catapult.

Ill spend a little more on a field mud recovery one.

If I remember right a winch should be able to pull 3x the weight of the vehicle its fitted to, so if a Disco is about 2.25 tons it ought to be good for say 7tons, if you apply the same thinking to roaps and straps any of those should be good.

Thats rope

Any textile lifting, lowering or pulling strap should be sold with a safety factor of x10 so a 1 tonne strap should only snap at 10 tonnes.
