Right all ,long time posting on here , I managed to a decent rangerover at last anyway my question is , do I buy the loom or do it diy style ? Conflicting feedback some say it has to go on puter to recognize whatever your towing it's on a 05 sport so hopefully have plugs behind boot sides for loom thanks all

No plug and play on the modern stuff, you need the trailer ECU I think
Well it was plug and play on my 02 L322 with genuine module and loom... 06 S/C L322 the same idea with genuine module plugged into o/s/r fuse box.
Presumed 05 Sport would be similar or same.

Click on the right 1 for you and look at the specs.

Yes, and they look plug and play. depending on the 1 you chose.
Ours was on our 2011 L322.

Phone call wouldn't hurt:). Not to me though I rarely have my phone charged;):D

I meant plug and play in the sense that you just connect to existing wiring with no extra ECU's required. I'm surprised it doesn't need diagnostics to tell the LCM that the trailer ECU has been fitted.

All done thanks for help just plug and play system recognises when your towing or tow plug is in

While the indicator tell tail on the dash will flash, the CJB still needs to be told that a trailer may be fitted. Doing so will turn off the rear PDC when the trailer is connected, stop the vehicle fog lights from working, and also initiate towing strategy in the stability control module, so sway mitigation and other advanced towing functions are activated. ;)

So it's not "plug and play"

Lighting is plug n play, advanced towing functions aren't, so it needs a programming session on SDD or Gap IID, as you suggested. ;)

Have either of you looked at the links?

1 says no issues, 1 seems to intimate some other form of intervention needed.

Ours (2011) was fine.

Would be great if the OP came back and said which 1 is on order and if it works "plug and play" when he gets it.

I think you're all full of sh!t, the pooter on mine recognised being plugged into the trailer and adjusted critical setting appropriately...

Vehicle fog lights OFF
Eas disabled
Radio locked on R4
Gearbox shifting altered for optimal cooling
Vehicle rear parking sensors de-activated
Prolly much more re. DSC etc but no bollox 'activation' baloney req'd !!!

A lot of Towbar electronics can be vehicle specific to deal with these things but there are more and more recent cars that require updating so car can adjust things.
The 2018 rr sport p400 I was ask for a quote...
À, being a hybrid I wouldn't touch it and B, it needed an update for the towing electrics.
They had it done at landrover.... Pfffff 1400€

I bought a brink kit all pre-wired loom hardest part was pulling boot lineing off and it's a right sod to fit the 13 pin carrier to chassis by the time the back plate is fitted it will not go through the hole so I made up another bracket apart from that quite an easy job , not needed to upload any other software , re erse sensors not working when reversing and trailer plugged in the kit number is 744184
