Do you all have tow bars fitted ?? all ive got is 3 massive holes where i think one should be
You don't need a loom as the sockets are already built into the loom. If you look behind the trim covering the rear lights you'll find them, one on each side. The one on the drivers side is for the standard lights etc, the one on the other side for those caravan extras. (Can never remember which ones's 12N and which is 12P!) I couldn't get a plug to fit so just tinned the ends of the wires and pushed them in and taped them in place, which so far has worked faultlessly. You don't need to worry about relays either and there was a trailer warning light built into the dash already too. Check RAVE for which contact is which. They weren't fitted as standard (on P38s anyway). I think you need the proper rangey wiring loom too as they don't like having wires chopped in.
Mine already had the x-member as an apparently integral part of the chassis, as it doesn't look like you could remove it without a grinder to cut it out! Just got a box-section towbar and it bolted straight into the existing holes. They weren't fitted as standard (on P38s anyway). The important bit (on P38s) is the additional crossmember needed at the end of the chassis.
SO they werent fitted as standard?? Were they an optional extra for about £20K at the time??lol
