hi just after a bit of advice, we got a discovery td5 as a tow vehicle, we can’t hitch the caravan on unless the rear door is open, we’ve fitted a two inch spacer has anybody used them and would you say there safe. Cheers

Photo might help understand it, Why can you not hitch the caravan unless the rear door is open?
Cheers

it will be fine as long as youve used the right bolts, alko ball sits further back too which helps with the spare wheel

I had the same problem hitching caravan to my defender. Assuming you have usual Alko hitch with inbuilt stabiliser, remove plastic handle by taking out through bolt, this leaves two metal 'prongs' which will go under spare wheel. After hitching replace handle to engage stabiliser.
Weld a washer to head of a hex bolt making it into a wing nut same size as Alko bolt then use this to make it easy to take handle on and off.
