Hi, after some advice (again) lol
Fitting tow bar and when i fit the supports that should fit chassis they dont line up as per bottom pic no matter what combo or way round i try.

Am i doing something wrong or am i best just welding in a slightly larger/longer plate behind the current support on chassis and making my own hole ?

Its on a def 90 /1989

Thanks all :)

What make of towbar is it ? Do the 4 holes in the mounting plate line up ? It is possible it may need an extender block between it and the rear crossmember,

Has your fixing bracket corroded and broken off at the end, the last hole is too near the end of the bracket and it looks a bit raggy.

You’re missing the angle bracket that bolts to the bottom of the crossmember. As such the ladder assembly is sitting too high up, hence why the arms appear too long.

Also, check you have the right kit, there are different ones for pre-1998 and post-1998 vehicles. Plus 90s and 110s differ on the later ones.

Here’s the full setup:

This is correct. Lowering the whole plte will increase the distance so the arm will line up. The angle bracket also act to spead the load and add strength to the rear crossmember.

Who made the tow bar? The kit looks new in the photos so I would contact them if it is missing and get them to send one out to you. If you did not buy it new I may have a spare one in the shed.

Mate put all of the bolts in loose then tighten them up. It fits under tension.

This photo from google seems to show the angle and how the tow bar sits a bit lower?

Sorry slow reply,

Yeah drilled holes further down and seems to fit now with abit of work, cross member seems to have had some plates welded which are not original.

Thanks for the info :D

haha thanks for the info.

Yeah been good to do abit of strip down and freshen up on the landy as its the first one I have had and gives you a good idea on how they are set up. had to sort the gear selectors the other day as that worked loose giving me no gears lol.

Used to the old 70s fords which are bit more of a simple set up but the landy is nicer to work on being riveted and bolted together, a lot easy to replace parts etc
