hoping someone can help , im looking at purchasing a tow bar flange type for my freelander , i have a td4 se 3 door on a 04 plate( newer shape ) , can any one recommend , ive see a few on ebay for around the £80 mark , however im confused as they are asking for bolt ons for electric packs etc etc.

Any help advice will be more than welcome.

Thanks in advance guys Dek

you normally find those ones dont come with the LR push connector, meaning you have a bit more work to do fitting it, finding out what wire goes where, I simply bought a used one via e bay, complete with plug cost around £40

I bought a detachable one from Towequipe and ignored the electrics. I then bought a plug in one off eBay and a 13pin pocket. I then swapped the wiring over so I have 13pin electrics. My bike rack is 13 pin electrics. My parents caravan is 7 pin twin electrics so I have an adaptor.

look for new ones see what you get to fit then look for second hand ones. looking at a new bar and electrics will give you the full list of what comes with it, to many peeps sell half a tow bar i.e. no strenghting tubes for chassis rails etc. As for electrics what you planning to tow new van or old ??? if old got with standard if not go for the new electric's. Most times it fairly easy to wire in just takes more time. But only you no what you are capable of !

thanks for help guys , im thinking of the new bar , it will only have occasional use for trailor or horse box.

Do i need electrics by law if towing trailor and my tail lights will be clearly visable???

Yes.

They need to be at the rear of the trailer, otherwise somebody could easily drive into your trailer :D

I was always under the impression that you didn't need them as long as it's seen from the rear of the vehicle and it's daylight. But if they are fitted they must work. If that makes sence. I am probably wrong though so don't listen to me.
I always have my light board. You can pick them up cheap at car boots and autojumble and a couple of zip ties and they are on.

I know number plates you are ok if you can see them on the vehicle infront, and if you can't you can remove the rear plate from the car and put it on the trailer
