I'm picking up a rear axle from a discovery 300 tdi to fit to my defender so I've got rear discs, but I want to change the wheels,

So my question is will the stud patterns be the same as the front original axle?

And if so what wheels will fit ( disco 1,3,p38 or defender td5 ect)

I'm looking for 16"alloys with maybe 265/75/16

Right, yes the stud pattern is the same BUT if your front axle is a ten spline one then you'll need to fit spacers to it to make alloys fit.

Disco 1 alloys will fit but not any other disco ones ie 2,3 or 4 or any defender alloys

Ok so spacers back and front, will boost alloys fit? Not sure what there off of.

Am I better off fitting td5 axles back And front?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to defenders lol

Do your front axles look like this

or this?

The first are 24 spline axles and will take alloys without spacers, you can get them from Discovery 1's with a 300tdi engine the same as the model your rear ones came from, the second image is from a 10 spline and you will need spacers for these. Boost alloys will fit either of these but won't fit td5 axles if they've come from a Discovery.

Hope this helps..

I think the second picture (. 10 spline). If I look at my wheel ther seems to be a lot protruding out the centre ( see profile picture) what do you think?

You need spacers chap, or you need to swap the front axle over, your choice. You'll probably find it cheaper to swap the axle but if you do buy spacers you can always sell them at a later date and pretty much get your money back for them

I'm happy to buy spacers, I do like the boost alloys,I had them on my d2 td5.
If I fit spacers will I need extended arches?
Thanks for all the help

I recently did the same on mine after I goosed my 10 spline front axle, purchased 300tdi axles for £80 each and sold my spacers for £120 so it cost me £40 for disk brakes all round and 24 spline axles:) and I sold my old axles on ebay but I can't remember how much I got for them

Yeah i need to remove the diff from my old axle and scrap the rest as i don't think the axle without the diff is worth selling :)
