Are Torx sockets the same as Star sockets?

And are the bolts on the drive train Torx or normal Hex bolts?

Birthday coming up and thinking of letting one of the kids buy me a set then just wondering what I might need to use em for if I do.

not hundred purrcent on it but i think the torx have a slightly rounded appearance where as the star ones are more pointed
