Evening all, just a quicky if I may. Does the top oil filter scew straight off , is there enough room with the pipe running directly beneath it ?. Thank you.

Yes it does screw straight off. Be prepared to spill some oil getting it out though as you have to tip it sideways slightly to get it through the gap.

Don't have the engine too hot or you'll burn yer pinkies trying to get your hand in there !!!

I put a shorter one on mine (Fram PH9104) that gives an extra 10mm or so clearance.

There's a rather good filter removal tool for the TD5 (a large spanner type tool) - cost me about 6 quid - does exactly what you need it to do in case a strap or chain won't get in there ;)

I tried to get one of those tools off Paddock with a full set of filters I got. They told me not to bother as it only fitted genuine LR filters.

My chain wrench just about got in there - it is a very narrow chain but still needed a bit of a push with a screwdriver.

i was under the impression that the "top" oil filter "centrifugal" was the one under the cover held on by the 8mm bolts?
