Has anyone mentioned hammers yet? ;););)
The more the merrier! In particular, the lump hammer is essential for removing steering joints etc. I can vouch for the quality of teng sockets and spanners. bit pricey, but I bought a load in a sale.

I tried using the trade card in my local halfords and if it's already discounted they wouldn't let me use it. Also not trade card related, but took some broken sockets in a couple of years ago for warranty but the manager refused because I was wearing company overalls he refused the warranty as it wasn't what the tools were designed for??? So sent my wife in with the same tools and they refused to change them for her as she didn't have the original receipt. I'm sure it's isn't the case at every store, but I just gave up with halfords and gave the tools to a neighbour.

Jeepers that sounds a nightmare! Yes they always told me no further discount but I always insist they scan card....9 times out of 10 substantial further discount. Thats how tool chest was only 199.99.

Also local store dont even ask me what's wrong with tool...just spot me carrying one in and say....'fault?). Then get me a new one.

I think it was more to do with the branch than the brand. I bought my son a bmx 'jump' bike thing, one of the daft ones with no seat. The frame cracked and the refused to warranty it because it has been used offroad!!! You don't get my chances to jump a bike on the road!!!

Had a problem with Halfords as I didn't have the receipt.
I told them that it was ok as I brought them on a debit card
and they would have a record of it as it was only 2 years ago.
They said they didn't keep records going back that far, funny that
I don't keep receipts going back that far, Got my new spanner.

Teng for socket sets and torque wrench, never had a problem with Teng stuff. I do like CK screw drivers as quality of the ends are good and don't seem to wear.
Copper and Hyde mallets made by Thor last forever.

I did buy a 200 piece professional kit from Halfords a couple of months ago for £150, to take on my trip to Morocco in March, seems actually to be decent quality, just haven't used it yet.

i'm thinking about getting a 72 king dick ratchet.

the smooth solid shaft looks like it would handle some abuse and it you do end up busting the head through usage, then you can get replacements.

the action also looks smooth as

Tried that in B&Q and was asked for proof I was a trader (I am not lol just wanted cheaper stuff. :D)

Won't halfords be the same or do they just give out trade discount willy nilly?

Print up some business cards and turn up in some oily overalls. Look surprised when they ask you for some proof and then have a rummage around to find some in your wallet, phew, that was lucky!
What's the worst that can happen!?

Meh bnq gave me a tradepoint card with no questions.....how ever im always kicking about in dirty jeans , padded shirt and rigger boots.....

Never bothered with a halfords one, might need to investigate.

B&Q only asked me for a letterhead- anyone can knock one of them up on a comp.

bought there big spanner set on sale and the biggest 1/2 socket set

great range on size's handy when some landy nuts and bolts are larger than average and im impressed with the quality and feel

I've got that trade point card myself. Use it for work supplies in emergencies. Odd decent deal but most of time I can still find stuff I need elsewhere significantly cheaper.

Certainly wouldn't cry myself to sleep if I didnt have it.

I just took in my wage slip.
Saved me and my family a few quid over the years

One of my Halfords sockets ( 19mm I think ) split so I took it back, They replaced it even though I had not got the receipt, and it was a few years old. Must start to keep my tool receipts though.
