As many as I can. Generally, I think if I carry a tool or a spare, I won't need it. I like to have sufficient spanners, screwdrivers and pairs of pliers to get everything apart, should I need to. It's quicker to list the things I don't carry, which include the larger power tools such as the pillar drill and compressor, and I usually don't take the hydraulic press and largest trolley jack.

Heheheh, well I don't carry a spare engine or gearbox, but anything else might be fair game ...

Simple kit ... basic tools, sockets, bottle jack, Hi-lift jack, wheel hub spanner, large hammer and chisel, impact wrench, battery and hand, 3' breaker bar, bow saw, pruning saw and a few spares.

When we go for a weekend away I add more spares, wheel bearings, UJ's, 4l bottles of all oils, ATF, EP90 and Engine, brake fluid, 20l+ of water, gasket goo, grease and gun, spare half shafts and CV shafts now I have some! Various bits like leak off pipe, brake pipe and fittings with the flaring tool, use my front bumper as an anvil and vice using mole grips/G clamp, various nuts and bolts, and just all sorts of bits and bobs, light bulbs, fuses, wire, electrical tester, various electrical crimps and connectors and crimp tool, duct tape, electrical tape, money, credit cards, breakdown card, phone and Hudl for comms and sat nav plus leads to charge them! I have on-board air to re-inflate tyres, I carry a puncture repair outfit, various ropes, strops, tie downs, bow shackles and winch swingaway blocks, swarfega, handtowels, paper towels, bog rolls, wetwipes, kneeling mats to work on and a square of plywood, 2 bits of 2 x 4, rope for tying stuff, a gate bitch .. the list just goes on ....

Well there is a large bill hook, fencing tool and hammer, electric fence tester, entrenching tool, length of black plastic pipe for driving cattle ect ect, just about everything that that is of no use for fixing the landy except the hammer.;);)

The next question.... is how do secure all this kit down so it doesn't attack you when - god forbid- you have an accident:eek:

It's all in boxes, under a cover and I have a dog guard between the front and rear just for WSHTF .. ;)

I'm in the process of making a pair of drawers with tops, and lockers either side for oils.

Depends how far we're going. anything over 5 miles and you can't get in the back for support equipment. Sorta like Thunderbird 2 without the pod ;)

Great isn't it?
Someone that nobody knows comes on and asks what you keep in the back of your Landy and you go along with it!
Many of us have posted pics of our pride and joy,so it doean't take a genius to find out where we park up overnight!
KAZZOOM, your tools have vanished into thin air!!
Not saying that the OP is that way inclined, but it's better to be safe than sorry!!

I carry an AA card, tools belong in the workshop at home.
All good and well, but every time you call out the AA they increase your premium the following year. Now imagine how annoying that would be when all you needed to get back on the road was screwdriver or a pair of pliers, or other tools you could have carried in a small tool box.
That also begs the question if you broke down whilst off road, can the break down services get to you and get you out. And yes I understand if something major has broke you have no choice but to call out the AA but something small and simple I'd say it makes sense to carry a few tools and spares so maybe you can fix it yourself and get back on the road.
But then maybe some on here have more money than sense :)

I'm liking this answer, more answer's like this please, no more answer's of calling out the break down services just coz you've got a burst water hose or some other simple fault.

My away kit is just that, my basic kit is negligible really, but if anyone wants to try and pinch my tools, they're welcome to try ... They will suffer consequences .. :)

So you can live yer life as a paranoid freak worrying that every little noise outside is someone trying to break into yer pride n joy.
