PISH, complete and utter why r they made with fans, your saying then that this doods td5 will be fine, "just dont go up any hills mate coz u,r fan will come on, oh hold on YOU WILL not need to worry coz you havent got a fan on, get it out the boot when working take it off when not.

why not just tell um tae get a muff fur the radiator,

u,r fan only comes on when climbing steep hills, "so ur,s is electric.
u,r not running without one "Why not"

doesnt typically need a fan , Whats typically mean,

our landrovers are farm vehicles, our,s work hard, they need fans

maybe u use yours for goin up and down the splash with all your spots on
and chequer plate polished sounds blerrin or some fun gettin dirty at weekend,

and if they rarely need them , surely rarely means they still need them

dont need thems what you have all told this guy, and i hope it doesnt backfire on you
TAKE HEED OF CARTMANS THREAD :D :D :D

Yes it will be fine, I know it will be fine.

Not just any hill, but steep, and fairly long offroad hills, where you will likely be in low range first going so slow that the air flow will not be sufficiant to cool the radiator. They are fitted with fans because they can and do get hot.

Yes I have 2 electric fans, and they do come in usefull occasionaly.

Typically would be when a landrover is not being used to its full extent, or working hard, which unfortunatly I have to say is many of them. This would be a typically LR, as there are more school run mums in them that us.

Check your facts next time round as mine works regularly on... A FARM!

i still stand by my advice. remove the fan for normal useage esp in winter.
obviously you need some common sense too, an electric fan with a switch or a stat is a good idea.
keep an eye on the temp gauge esp in traffic.
switch the fan on, if off roading or doing any hard work. (such as farming!).

and switch it off if wading.

the motor manufacturers are finally getting the message too. very few cars dont have electric fans these days.

Got any advice on what sort of 'leccy fan Ormus? Would one off a ford escort van do the trick?

Presumeably it will need to pull through the rad into the engine bay, not push out?

Cheers,

aye yule know! best i go and

1) change me passport fer a english one

2)become like you

3)shave me head

4)chope me legs off

5)slather me self in butter

6) eat more of yer mum cooking (if i can ignore the taste)

if yer gonna insult someone its best to try using something that has its roots in the truth instead of just describing yer self in the hope yer dull wit could hurt someone feelings.
now go back to reading yer ladybird books on how things works.

old jethro the farmers boy thinks im like daffyd it seems that now you have become an englishman i have suddenly become a celt, how strange is this world in which he lives ;)

Correct me if I am wrong here guys, but is the viscous fan not also designed to flow cool air over the intercooler, to make it work better?
I posted a "should I remove the fan" question on another forum and this was mentioned....also that it keeps the under bonnet temperature constant, and helps to cool the turbo....

I have used 2 electric fans off a Galaxy that had air conditioning, they spin faster than a cooling fan. I have positioned one in line with the cooling radiator and the other with the intercooler, that way I can gain a bit of extra power when needed with having a cooler "charge" going into the inlet manifold on demand via a switch.

Can... open... WORMS EVERYWHERE!

Shirley this ain't that big an issue?

It's a land rover after all, so it's going to be a bit tougher than yer average Ford Ka. If you're prepared to put your lump on the line for some extra mpg then take the fan off - if you're a bit concerned that it might feck yer engine up then... err... hello? Leave it the hell alone!

sorry about that, slob, grunt, yella disco, being AWOL . had an unfortunate incident with a couple oh ma cattle, due to the extreme weather up eire, No doubt youll all be glad am back and safe. :D :)

let me guess the cops finally caught you up to no good wiff yer cows. and you managed to convince them it wur animal husbandry

Fortunately not,

ma dads had his 5 bearing 2 and quarter deisel engine rebored, crankshaft reground, cylinder head skimmed, new valves and regrounded, fuel pump and rotary pumps new, but its got blue smoke when its ticking over, the injectors are also recon.

slob, whats up way hur:D
