OK, I know this is one of those problems that happens very often with many and varied symptoms and, seemingly, cures.
My battery died during the recent cold snap and I removed it to put on charge for 2 days (I got flu, it was only supposed to be overnight!).
Now I have the issue that when I reconnected the battery the alarm went off. I could however press the lock button 4/5 times (depending on which advice you read) and the alarm would go off and I can use the remote to open/close the doors and start the car.
Leave the car locked for more than 15-20 mins and the remote no longer works. I presume this is some kind of 'get you home' mode.
Anyway, I'm going to try the advice on this thread tomorrow: https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/discovery-2-alarm-problems.250938/
I would just like to meet the idiot who thought that this kind of thing was a good design feature.
On a more serious note, how long can you leave the battery disconnected for before this 'feature' kicks in?

Because I have a battery drain that gives me a flat battery after about 5 days I have my battery disconnected most of the time as I only start up about once a week, the disco is only used to tow our caravan.I have had the battery disconnected for a month at a time. Connect battery and leave for about two mins to allow the system to stabalise. Starts first time everytime so disconnecting the battery does no harm at all imo

The problem is that once I reconnect the battery, the alarm goes off!
Not a popular feature with the neighbors that one!

You have to disarm the alarm with a good battery as the system to get the unlock request from the fob before you disconnect the battery, it's a safety feature for the case if somebody forces up the bonnet, disconnect the battery and tow away your car, it's made as to when the battery is reconnected the alarm to go off and the engine to be unstartable(immobilised) untill EKA or the original fob is used... so if for a reason it doesnt get the unlock command from you before you disconnect the battery or it goes flat with locked vehicle that's what happens.... when the alarm goes off unlock instantly with the fob to disarm the alarm.... if your fob doesnt work well you'll have to fix that first to override this problem

Well, used the EKA (after the local LR dealership was very kind to me and looked it up!) and can now get in and start the vehicle.
Just got to get the fobs talking to it again now :(

See if you can find someone with a nanocom.

Good to hear you got it sorted, neighbours must be happy.
