Mates, do you think a Safari snorkel will look good on my five door 110 station wagon? Doing it more for practicality, looks will be a bonus.
:tea:
Barbados, Do not fit a snorkel for looks if you need one then fit one but for looks never. You of all people should know that it will affect performance by adding to the length of your inlet tract. There will not be any ram effect well maybe but you will have to be at high speed in excess of what the vehicle is capable of. A snorkel is a tool not an appendage.

He's already said he wants it for practicality but looks will be a bonus.
Fit one mate, can't do any harm as they come in handy and look cracking![]()
Well said Tim.
Barbados do you want it for practical or styling purposes? Your origina postl does not make this clear.
Unless with your past experience you can work out the diameter needed so as not to effect performance.
There was a discussion on Defender2 forum where some of the tuning bods were measuring how much power you lost by adding a snorkel.
They sap a measurable number of GeeGees.
That said I have one on mine, but only as it was on when I bougth it. (or should that be brought re another current thread)
BEWARE however the evil insurance companies. When I spoke to some of the idiot companies such as Admiral, Swinton and Direct Line and mentioned the LR standard exuipment mods on my TD5 when I got to the snorkel they all balked. The line was "But that means you may off road if !!!"
What part of LAND ROVER DEFENDER don't they understand FFS!
Barbie can we see the sketches you have made up? Just out of curiosity
Tim, it is more of a practical purpose. I removed the heater matrix and would like to change the location and style of the air box by placing it closer to the air inlet from the snorkel and away from heat. I can make an effective heat sheld with the added room for the air filter box.
The air box and air intake on the 200tdi has long air ducting routes and many bends, I am trying to shorten and straighten that out. I have sketched the route and included is a bigger intercooler.
The vehicle and I will be part of the hurricane and disaster relief volunteer team, Roving Response, so keeping water out is also part of the plan.
Thanks for the replies mates.
Cheers.
