Apologies! Yes, it's the old favourite topic and everything else!

Im planning to change my stock suspension Discovery 2 to 16" wheels soon.

I wanted to go with BFG At's for the looks and generally favorable feedback I've seen. However, here's the part I'm struggling with...

'correct' tyre size for the 8J rim is: 255/65/16

However, I can only find the BFG's in either:

245/70/16 - as near as damnit to the same diameter but a liitle bit narrower - anyone have any pictures of these fitted to a disco 2?

Or

255/70/16 - 3.4% increase. Again, pictures of this setup would be appreciated.

I've found that there seems to be a wider overall choise of tyre in the 245 size also.


So

I'd very much appreciate any suggestions / comments on which of these sizes I should go for, if any.

Open to any other decent At's etc..

245/70R16 is a good choice to keep the systems within factory calibrated values

Any of those will probably work. Real world not much difference in any of them tbh....

It depends if you watch the EGT or not in the real world ... though i'll not start this discussion again

I run 245/70/16. Ive run 255/65/16 also and there is no difference real world. Just buy t some bfg at in that size and forget about it. White letter OUT obviously, its the law.

Sounds like a plan to me.. Am I right in thinking that all k02's have both white one side and black on the other?

Don't suppose you've got a pic with the 245s fitted?

Ive seen this mentioned a few times - I presume this is down to the taller effective 'gear' ratio?

Might have to setup a way of monitoring EGT...

Not really sure what they are saying about. As said, reality is. All of those sizes are very similar in terms of rolling radius. Not enough to worry about IMO.

Taller tyres has the effect of a higher ratio gear, ie it moves the vehicle gearing up. So 1st isnt as low as it was, and moving off from low speeds is harder on the engine. More torque can compensate, or reduce gearing in axles or trans case.
Bigger tyres also messes up the ECUs calcs on fuelling as speed is inaccurate and also the engine has to work harder anyway. So higher EGT results.
I have got photos but cant post them on here due to photobucket being pants. Load on internet though. As above, it looks very similar to stock to me.
