Hi Guys
I was just getting ready to go out the other week for some green laning and the old 2.5 N/A fired up then died. turned him over again and it was turning over faster than normal so i checked the rocker while my mate turned him over and no movement on the rocker shaft. done the belt and ordered 8 new pushrodsas they werent in stock. What ide like to know is what is the pottential for valve damage. Also the engine ive got was transplanted before I got it and I was told its out of a sherpa van would this be a 15 J and should I mention this when I order engine parts as when I prviously ordered valves they came in different to those in the engine.

you will proberly be lucky and it will only have done the push rods.
the simplest way to check if it has bent values is take the rocker cover off then remove the rocker shaft and then check to see if all the values springs sit and the same height if they do you havnt bent any values

I had this happen last year on the motorway at 70mph.

I had 5 bent push rods and the other 3 looked OK - probably slightly bent - 8 new rods and a belt and didn't have any other problems.

When you reconstruct the rocker system, use assembly (ROCOL or something with molybdenum in it) paste on the ends of the push rods, a reasonable coating on the ends, as these are now going to have to bed into the lifter which will already have bedded in with the old rods.

So £16 for 8 rods, a new belt and away I went - 22hours after the belt went.

I will post pictures if I can find them.
