I got a crank holding tool off ebay for a fraction of the price of the Land Rover Tool, Really well made and made the job soooooo much easier and safer.

and viscous fan spanner

Interesting that all your posts seem to contain a link to ebay. Life is full of strange coincidences. :rolleyes:o_O

Incidentally, while researching that fact on your page, I noticed that your dream landrover is a "Mk1 Defender".
What is that when it is at home?

So far ALL 9 posts are SPAM......bless him.

Cheers
I've just wasted 2 minutes of my life looking at those posts from his profile page. How desperate can you get! He's dragging up posts from 2010

Wonder if it will be worth reporting it to the Tax man, looks like he's running a business on Ebay rather than selling some stuff that's lying around.
If only I could find out how to do that:rolleyes:

I have no problem with someone selling their stuff, but at least be honest about it. Then people know you are spamming , rather than a lying idjit.

Cheers

4 Sure but he's a diddy and sneaked away after dropping a few freebies on the threads, Weasel!
Contributed zero, peeps like that make my blood boil

Absolutely.
In some of his posts he talks about the ebay seller in the third person, as if it's not him. It's just a blatant attempt at deceit. How stupid can you get, with the user names having an obvious link. That's a sharp business brain right there. o_O

When my 300TDi reached 5-years I decided to invest in a puller / timing kit and crankshaft locking tool (from Difflock).
Paid for itself by costing less than having the belt replaced in a garage so now it doesn't cost me anything and allows me to change the belt at the correct interval for the cost of parts only. Also having the correct tools (crankshaft locking tool especially) means that undoing & re-tightening the crankshaft bolt to the correct torque is a breeze.

To be fair, I run a seperate business trading as myself using a private eBay account dedicated to the purpose. I don't have it at a business account because I don't want to give out my home address on eBay on the 'sellers legal info' and have to subscribe to the dreaded distance selling regulations i.e. accepting returns when somebody simply changes their mind. I don't try to hide what I do because I pay my taxes, This guy might be paying his.

This^^^^^
It's not the overpriced, cheap looking tool that does it, or even that it's blatant spam.
It's the fact that the eBay link clearly shows his name and gives him away. I mean, how stupid can you get?

I just used the correct sized drill bit through the drain plug and a 3/8 long shouldered bolt with the thread cut off, in the pump. My engine purrs.

I have one of the locking tools the chap was spamming.

Its cheaper than the landrover part, and it does the job, but the welding is shocking on it. Proper sausage of mig, with so little penetration that it looks like you could knock it off with a chipping hammer.

I mean it does the job, but at 60 quid or whatever he is charging, he should maybe go on a welding course.

Irritatingly the week after i bought it, a landrover one came up on ebay 2nd hand.

I have done 300tdis without the tool, but it does make the job a lot easier, and less random.
