just bought one needs a refurb but £20 bargin I recon.
its the landrover of the paraffin light world.
brill for off roadin if I cant get it going I can always drink the paraffin so its a no brainier.
 
Good choice! I have one too.
Always wanted one as a kid (night fishing etc.) also bought a primus stove for the same reason.
Better alternatives nowadays but they are really good.

What model Tilley did you get?
 
I think mine is the same, lovely bit of kit. You can even brew a tea in an enameled mug on the top once its going.
Enjoy it. I have lots of spare mantles, I think I bought 30 because we were forever breaking them as kids.
 
Not sure if it's actually a 'Tilly' but I've had a similar lamp for 20 years that runs on unleaded, been used twice :(
A Coleman Northstar "Dual Fuel" lamp maybe? They are very good. Come the Apoxieclips we is all lit up and not in the dark aint we?

Thanks for the interest, I'll have to look it out & check for details.
I used to use it when driving historic WW2 vehicles to France/Belgium & camping on site, I was a lot younger then :rolleyes:
