This is more a Prins LPG question really - 2000/X P38 apparently had LPG service 8 months ago (I bought recently). Tickover on LPG is too low but fine on petrol.

Is petrol tickover a manual adjustment of the throttle cable or electronic set up?
Is LPG tickover electronically adjustable, or fixed by the manual adjustment (or indeed electronic adjustment) of the petrol tickover (if that makes sense)?

I'm wondering whether to adjust the cable or whether I have to pay someone to plug it in to their laptop.

Also, does it really have HT leads coming from a distributor? I'm contemplating replacing the leads if my eyes do not deceive me (I haven't had a car with HT leads for some time).

Thanks in advance (advice so far has been really useful and much appreciated).

As far as I know the Idle is controlled electronically by a 'stepper motor' (the Idle Control Valve or Idle Air Control Valve) RAVE will tell you!

As for the LPG system, not sure, more than likely it is all a relationship between throttle position sensor and MAF etc....maybe a quick visit to www.lpgforums.com could help on that one!

There is no dizzy on the later post 1995 V8's as the ignition system is all electronic....if you take a gander at the back of the engine you'll see the coil packs bolted to the back of the intake manifold....the bugger is they are a pain to get to....replacing leads maybe easy, but as for replacing the coils...hmmmm small hands and patience mostly!

You can adjust your tickover speed by increasing the LPG injector timings on the LPG ECU fuel map.

The LPG system probably needs a tweak, if it's okay on petrol, then you need to adjust your LPG system to match the petrol system.

You'll need a laptop and a cable to connect up, but it's pretty easy to do.

the problem l had was the fuel trims were way out so l purchased a cheap bluetooth obd adaptor eliminated all the faults it reset the fuel trims hey presto no probs

I've tried re-setting the faults already. Given the awful smell at tickover which accompanies drop in revs I suspect HT leads / plugs (hopefully not coil packs) causing a missfire / cyclinder or two down on tickover. Will update on receipt of receipt.

where are you based ??????? someone might be able to point you to a top lpg service agent ,,,, I suggest " from 6 yrs of owning a thor lpg rangie " that you don't feck about with it cos it will bite you in the ass and cost a fortune ,,, let pro look at it , it could just need the trims setting , cos if it aint broke don't fix it !!!!!!!! regards mozz ,,
