Diesel. Thought the plugs needed cleaning but got told they were glow and not spark so defo diesel. Have managed to have a mechanic have a look and he is stumped too :(

If it's diesel have you tried priming the fuel system?

How long were you cranking the engine over for previously? did you give the starter motor plenty of chance to cool down between cranking?

Was there any smoke from the exhaust when you were cranking it over?

Hiya,

No smoke and it was not turning over long enough to do anything before it decided to die a death. Now as far as I am concerned it can die a death. It has blown a booster pack and killed my car and the guy who owns it came over and tried everything i had already tried and could not get it started either. What a suprise! So stuff it. Someone on the street can call and get it towed away as far as I am concerned!

Thanks for your advise though

did you try tow starting it?

and dont let it be a total loss, you can always sell it for a few quid

If you get your email address to me Beastie I will send you some piccies of it. The bulk head is solid, which is good, would be better if the fecking thing started. Think it must be earlier suggestion of battery remaining live somehow. Its such a bummer as was gonna put my car up for sale and then pootle in the landy while it was on ebay/auto trader, not gonna happen now! :( The Landy has MOT and TAX and the cutest little windscreen wipers ever!!!

Hey Archie,

Yeah the guy who owns it dumped it on me to sell but I will not sell it if I cannot start it as it's not fair on the person who buys it. Make sense?? HHe is looking at getting over £1500 but I think he is reaching to be honest with you. Yes if it started and I had driven around in it then maybe but without having a pootle I would not know. Everything on it looks sound although a small whole in the roof at the back and the drivers side door where the window meets the door frame I can poke my fingers through it. Its currently sat in South West London, close to Richmond Park.

Yeah I have one of the Landy, one in the back and one in the front, can email if you send me your email addy. Will get some better ones tomorrow if needed.

Also check if the engine will turn over manually and is not seized before tow starting. Disconnect the battery first and pull the cooling fan or turn the crankshaft nut at the bottom of the engine to see if the engine is free to turn

The crank shaft thingy turns, not easily but it does turn Dun :) Not got the arm power to start with the crank

Ow well Archie never mind, you have still been a great help though :)

Now posted on ebay for sale as a none runner :) 130394545984

Tips on how to describe it better would be great!
