A while ago I asked @jamesmartin if he could determine the cause of a ticking noise similar to when as kids, youd put a lollystick in the spokes of your bicycle wheel. Anyway, I did a bit of research on line and was told it could be the valve in the injector pump. I was still getting full power and acceleration. The ticking would start just after start up but would seem to disappear when you raised the revs. James suggested it was cam related. My heart sank but he said try lift pump first then go on to cam followers. While doing oil seal and core plug, I also fitted a new Delphi lift pump. Delighted to say, the noise has gone and my stress levels has reduced. Thanks again mate.:D

I had this - fitted a new lift pump and it cleared. But then it came back. I changed the fuel filter, and it went away again. I believe mine was fuel starvation for the injector, the lift pump (fresh one) being enough to pull the fuel through an old filter for a while, but then it too weakened. If you haven't changed your filter in a while, do that too.

Was you having a lack of power prior to lift pump change? I wasn't. I was getting full power, good acceleration and nice tick over.
