I've just purchased a lovely 1.8 Kalahari in silver. Drove it for an hour home - no problems. Just popped out for some take away and parked up and there's a ticking noise coming from under the car. It doesn't sound like it's going to stop! Any ideas??
I've tried starting the car again and stopping it - that didn't solve it!
Help!
Sorry bout that Wingee
Yer! i thought exhaust cooling down, I noticed it before ( not on the Hippo)
But never bothered to see how long it went on for ?? i suppose if yer starting and stopping it ( warming the exhaust ) the tickin could last for quite a while
If thats the case Nowt to worry about
Dosent explain Wills Clockwork bit tho????
:D :D

OK cool - if it's nothing to worry about, I won't!!

Can anybody tell me - as I have a 1.8 (it's done about 29k miles) - should I get the head gasket replaced? It hasn't gone yet, but can i get it done now before it goes?!

OK simply thinking for peace of mind - I read that the engines had 100% failure (not a reliable source) and that those that have the hg repaired don't fail again... I noticed mine's been drinking coolant, so I thought why not get it done now, before it goes and does anymore damage...

with reference to the ticking noise, do you have a stainless steel exhaust, they tend to make ticking noises when they're coolig down

It could be stainless steel - although it's fairly rusty! It's an 03 Kalahari model - so the ticking is nothing to be worried about?
