Hi all just had a nervous drive home, my baby suddenly developed a ticking noise while driving it is quite loud.

Got home and jacked up the front and spun the wheel, and from what it sounds like there is is a ticking (like something is loose in the prop..) if I tap the prop with my wedding ring it's the same noise so I'm guessing it's in there, I'm due to change the UJ but from what I've read there should be some play but there's not... Could something be loose in the prop itself or is in a problem elsewhere.

As always any advice is appreciated.

I have greased up the ujs and the prop and it's still there

Ok drain the diff oil

Chek its not something in the brakes or loose in that area

Righto... Axle oil, changed aswell as the transfer box.. Gave another round of checks with the grease gun and it's come out of the sides... Checked the breaks and wheels and all appear fine breaks Ok...

Taken her out for a spin and the clicking is still there BUT it's a lot quieter so much so I'd probably have missed it if I wasn't listening for it! And had the windows down as well as no stereo lol so there is an issue I'll check the bearing tomorrow and how do you check the cv?

From what I've now got it is back and it's worse when your turning and in drive... Searched hear and Yea that pretty much points straight at the cv so gonna get a replacement and do the bearings at the same time... So thanks disco dude it's appreciated..

Tho one last question ;-) just about to order the cv joint and there are several splines coming up 10, 24, 32....would I be correct in assuming on a 93 200tdi it's a 10 spline?
