A seventeen year old nephew is good for many things (alright, one or two things, probably) carefully preserving old brake lines is not one of them.
What's my part number for pipes flex to calliper? Front, both sides, '93 JG-. ANR1769 x 4?
 
Reckon I'll get a flaring kit, that way I can renew my fuel lines etc with it.
Are they all 3/16 10mm fittings?
Sort of glad it happened, in a way. The old brake lines are in proper bad shape, but I could do without the extra delays and expense.

I've rebuilt the OS swivel with spare halfshaft, ran into the aforementioned brake line issue. Haven't filled it yet, might still clean up and fit the spare housing.
I used the included bearings. They're clearly nowhere near the quality of the Timken ones, but now that I've had it all apart it'll be a piece of cake to do next time, and I've kept the old top bearings for emergency repairs.
I'll keep a measure of mileage so I can inspect the bearmach bearings, and once I've sorted the brakes I'll shell out for good pin bearings and new wheel bearings.
 
Bit of research says if I have 12 point calliper bolts my threads are metric, so that's one step closer.
 
Finished rebuilding ns swivel / axle a few days ago.
Brake bits turned up yesterday, so replaced ns calliper pipes.
Took it for a drive, picked up my nephew, no problems.
On the way home we decided to take the scenic route, and in the middle of "are you sure this is on the map" country, os calliper pipe failed.
Limped to nearest friendly car park, called mrs out with pipe and flaring kit, and struggled with unions till 0100 on the first proper cold night of the season.
Got 3/4 unions off, last one will not budge, so it looks like now is the time the old bastard has chosen to have his flex replaced.
Since the os bleed nipples don't work anyway I think my best course of action will be to replace the callipers with the pair that came with my spare axle (single line type), along with all brake lines.
S'pose I can get on with timing belt while I wait for bits.

had similar with my last working rallycar, re-built engine after a road-rally, decided to drive it home to 'run-in' & ended up barrel-rolling it into a ball after 25 miles o_O
Ok, so not realy that similar but was a cluster-**** after some work so I feel your pain :oops:

at least you can re-build it :cool:

Ouch! I'm guessing there was more wrong with it than the engine :eek:

Might as well do the brakes now ;) Looks straightforward and I've got to rip so much out anyway. Just hope the "new" callipers don't need rebuilding. Seals don't look too bad, but I did find a bit of corrosion under the bleed screw. Looks like just the bleed screw, so ordered replacements with the rest of the bits.
Really was hoping to give the engine a good going-over, but it runs fine, and it all needs doing at some point anyway. Just hope timing belt is good enough to last a bit. It didn't have a wader plug when I got it, bell housing plug was in and covered in black, and with the condition I found the swivels in I'm not super confident, but it can sit with its flush in for a bit till I can drive it back from across town. PITA having to work on it out there, but brakes are a relatively clean and easy job once I have the bits.
