My 2002 p38 4L has a seems to "jerk" when only light throttle is applied at 30- 40 Mph as thogh it has a slight misfire .
Also the tickover is not as smooth as I have come to expect from V8s " bit Lumpy " !!
I have checked all the plugs etc & they are new & appear ok. Acceleration etc appears OK , but it's my first RR so ???

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated..................

I feel your pain. Have a look at this thread I had on another site. Fast forward to the last page for the answer, but its worth reading the rest first.

Thanks for the promt replies........

Will check Rotor arm & leads tomorrow .

But with regards to ............
" is it missing when you start up? it could be mas senser "

What is it , where is it & what do I check ???
:confused::confused:

I think someone is pulling your leg getting you to check the rotor arm:rolleyes: You have coil pack ignition which doesnt use a distributer. Check the leads first by checking for arcing . Do this in a very dark place, way out in the countryside is good, and look for tiny blue sparks at the back of the engine at the top where the coils are and around the plugs.

this method can be a bit arkward, especially if you choose a lane that doggers use!! imagine the surprise as your bent over the car trying to see sparks!!:D:D:D:D:D

mallard air flow senser is mas senser on your right as you look senser just plus in. you dont say if it misses on start up? j

I think there is a slight miss on start up , it's just not really smooth & even running when on tickover or slower speeds , if I accelerate , it seems to pull well and doesn't appear to miss until I let cruise control take over and come down to about 30 - 40 mph.

Bit difficult to explain . but it sounds lumpy on tickover ( which is the one time I would expect it to be really ,really smooth & quiet)

sorry , but I am a complete novice with RRs , this is my first & whilst I like it and am pleased with it ,it is definitley not as smooth as previous V8s I've had .
:confused::confused:

ok have you had a look in the dark for blue flashes? do easy and cheep things first, from what you have said i dont think it maf senser but could well be a poor lead. j
