'And discuss' what ?
Why when you go to UTube you get notifications of a car/landrover related video .... ?

It's because you have a Landrover and have looked at/searched for landrover/rangerover content and the SiP server you are connecting too remembers that and has added that profile to your IP address.
You are also posting this in a public, advert enabled, searchable forum with a section related specifically to Rangerovers.
Most of the 'content streaming servers' have an algorithm that catalogues what you are watching and matches content to that result, results that other like minded souls are watching or that fall into a similar category.

I search for stuff or watch stuff on the internet and then adverts pop-up on her-indoors computer for that very thing.
It's how the social media, streaming, internet platforms work.
It's what makes them addictive.
They suggest content that you find interesting .... because they know what you find interesting because you searched for it or for something similar.

I imagine that a largeish number of SD viewers have seen these 'Harry's Garage' videos and an ever larger number of Amazon Prime subscribers too. The new series of Grand Tour is about to start so a lot of people are searching Jeremy Clarkson at the moment. As that episode contains our chubby journalist it will ride high in the algorithm as you are posting on a rangerover group you will be targeted.

As an advertiser you can pay to raise your target audiences profile with target insertion to high number algoritm matching .... that's how UTube (and others) make Millions of U$ every day (they made over $6 Billion in the first 3 months of 2023).

Facebook is bigger and makes more money and spends Billions every year in honing its algorithm.
Basically @EntropyUK you have fallen for it, Marketing 1 You 0

You dont have to take what they recommend you know ;).

You can use the search to find what you want/why you opened it in the first place:oops:.

Why what did you want recommended to you? or should we not ask thato_O.

So is there really a problem that we need to discuss cos I is easily:vb-confused2:.

Well, I watched it. Not a bad vid, Jeremy I like, Harry errr.. Not as much.
Awkward conversation at times but I could listen to Jeremy all evening, the fact he doesn't know one door handle to another is an amazing contrast to his TV job.

Hmmmm, l322 or P38??? Maybe a later l322 but I'm not a fan of multi link suspension and fantastically complicated electrics....
If I could have the td6, programmed and mated to an 8 speed box with live axles in the 38' I'd be an even happier bunny. 🤔😊

Watched a following video with a l322 and a proper defender laning, the rr was all tippy uppy without a proper axle, the defender just drove across the obstacles

The M57 can be fitted to the P38 along with the HP24 box. I do not see the point of an 8 speed box when there is a torque converter effectively giving variable ratios.

If I could have it all, that would be it.. Since I couldn't justify the expense I'll stick with my old bus😅

Just out of interest for when my GM five speed box eventually self destructs, do you think it would be posssile to 'retrofit' an HP24 to the M57 engine we have in our 2006 L322 3.0 diesel as a replcement for the GM?

You could upwards to a zf6 if your getting into that🤔 the only issue is ecus but there is a standalone gearbox ecu that can be used somehow with an existing system to control the g/box. Not cheap I would imagine but actually programmable as well. I think ashcrofts have them🤔

An HP24 from a P38 diesel along with it's ECU could certainly be done if you can sort out the electrical connections needed which are few. Leave the GM box ECU in place to fool the car electronics.

We are off to Normandy in a fortnight and have taken out extra breakdown insurance including unlimited 'repatriation' just in case the old girl decides to have a hissy...like many have suggested on Landy Zone before, I put a few quid by each month to cover the inevitable cost of large jobs. Currently £150 per month in anticipation of eventually needing a new box. People might say just get another L322, but it doesn't work that way does it? You become emotinally attached to your vehicle and all sense of logic tends to go out off the window. Where we live there are a ridiculous amount of 'flash' new RR's but few if any have the presence of our one and many cost over 20 times as much! Of course the constant threat of failure can be troublesome, but if you have an engineering understanding there is'nt much to fear, except the odd massive bill!

Remember all those TV programmes are scripted by a large team.

I think the L322 with the Jag v8 and before the 2010 interior is hard to beat if you have the money to run it, rear arches, brake lines, subframe and suspension bush issues aside ... and damp on the boot messi g things up. Not so sure about off-road but how many people do that in their Rangie? If I had money to burn I would consider one, although I do go off-road and I am not sure I would take the L322 where I take the P38A. Maybe I would have a fleet of them!

Totally agree there. I don’t do much as save each month but have couple of grand always available just incase.., there’s a massive amount to go wrong on new stuff, least with our older ones there still relatively simple, and even with an issue can normally be limped home.

Also farther in law said same to me If say gearbox went etc “for £2000 rebuild you could get another” yea and it would be scrap, need at least £3500 for a half decent td6 now as prices seem to be on the rise, and all the money you add into yours in services, tyres, parts etc then start all over again with another, definitely get attached to them, other cars if they started costing I’d always just offloaded them, shortest was a Vauxhall insignia that i just didn’t click with, sold it 3 weeks after buying and for a profit. But my td6, I’ll keep hold off although would love a 4.2 SC.

Regarding the Harry & Jeremy video, saw it last week as I follow Harry’s two Chanel’s, quite good and clarksons seeming lack of knowledge but nice to see two people who are loaded still running older RR.
