I'm thinking of buying a Range Rover P38 but which one petrol diesel or gas converted? Which model?

Is there anything I should look out for regular problems faults?

I want to use it as my daily runner. I don't do lots of mileage but do use the motorway every week approx 60 miles. I am looking to replace my TD4 freelander that doesn't cope with my camping equipment without using the rear seats.

Do a search, covered many times. The diesel is more reliable than the V8, not that that says much. Don't buy one with any faults unless you are a competant DIYer, even then you need to be able to fix the regular faults yourself or it will cost you a fortune.
The boot is disappointingly small for such a big car.
 
Welcome. This is a topic that comes up regularly so searching is your best bet. My P38 is my daily driver too but there is another car in the household. I'd not feel at all comfortable with a P38 as my only vehicle.

just get the one with the least faults whatever form in comes in perol/derv/lpg tbh theres not much between any of them they all break:eek:oh & welcome

dont trade in your TD4 for a 2.5 P38 ! you'll notice a lack in performance ! lol

whats your budget ?
 
Well I have two p38 in the household but I think I have a sickness :crazy_driver: Just make sure you buy the best you can afford
 
A gassed V8 will get similar fuel running costs to a diesel but with the power needed for a big heavy lump of a P38. Research problems with the Rover V8's though...performance & refinement can come at a price. :(

And a chipped diesel will stay with a V8:p
 
get either one, but I would suggest maybe a late Westminister.
Only buy a mint one if you can.

that is depending on your budget.
 
A chipped diesel will never keep up with a 4.6.

A 4.6 V8 P38 is no more sluggish than a 3.0L L322 diesel.

....just to add some realism to the thread.

I would say get the latest model your budget can afford (definately a post 2000).
