Morning everyone!

I have been looking at the Freelander 1's lately, with the thinking thats the next motor for me! My question is....... Being the dainty chap that i am (6' 4 And 23st) is there much room for the larger chap?

Really? I like Discos but they aren't the most economical motors lol

Freelander either want a diesel Lseries,TD4 or the freelander 2 i6 petrol as the 1.8 and v6 k series are piles of unreliable junk

You can even buy a 2 wheel drive version- the early one where it has multiple issues and owner removed prop- rather than fix.

Or New Freelander is also available in 2wheel drive- so proper 4x4 owners can take the mick when it gets stuck on a Chelsea kerb

Thanks, but that doesn't really answer my question lol I would be looking along the td4 route, and a Freelander 1 about 2006

I have a 56 plate td4 freelander1

I'm 6ft 6 and about 19 stones and have no problems at all . My youngest son is 6ft 7 and about the same weight as me and there's no problem for him in the passenger seat.

You will be looking out of the top 2-3 inches of the screen on an FL1. The seats are not height adjustable. You will also have to mind your head when getting in and out.

Go test drive/sit in one is the only way.

Whilst the above is true regarding looking out of the top of the screen, with the elevated position I find it not a problem . But do make sure your comfortable with it all on a decent test drive (not just a 5 minutes around the block).

It depends if your long in the back or long in the legs

If your long in the back IE from your bum up - you will have the above problems

If your long in the legs then you will probably find that the drivers seat could do with going back another notch that isn't there....but it might be ok for you :)

I am 6'3 or 4 depending on time of day......! I am long legged, I found the seat coulda done with another notch when I first got it but now I am happy with it, even long trips (Norfolk to scotland). I actually find I am sitting further forwards in all cars now!

The later facelift seats are reportedly much more comfortable and supportive than the early ones, it could be simply cause they haven't had as much use, and it is a subjective matter.

I find the freelander to feel more spacious than the disco in the front - the disco seems almost claustrophobic. The 3dr has bigger doors and is easier to get into with the seats back, and that is not available on the newer discos.

Kizzeh is another big lad in a freelander. (Not being rude mate 😛)

Right, well I have managed to sit in a 3 & 5 door, neither is really a problem I see now though about the seat height dilemma but a good upholstery company should be able to take an inch of foam out of the seat to cure that problem. Going to test drive a couple tomorrow to see how I get on.
There is one thing though, how come on late 2006 models the road tax is £200 more for an auto over a manual!!!! How does that make any sense
