Hi everyone I have a defender 90 with a 200tdi discovery engine in which I have had replace as I went offroading and I killed it I used a garage named ( ONALL4s 4x4 at Mansfield and he guy was named (NAY WILLIAMS ) he quoted me £400 pound for a 200tdi discovery engine and quoted £650 for fitting which he was ment to be changing the oils and fitting a breather kit and a disco transfer box to give me more top end speed and he was going to fit me a 300tdi turbo onto it to give me more boost but when he fetched it back 4 week later he'd not done anything part from change the engine block but now I'm a little concerned that the engine is even genuine as the numbers look dodges please anyone help me out I need to know if I can check if the engine is stolen or been messed with as I've had a lot of money spent on it thanx

?including fitting and supplying a disco t/box ,300 turbo, fitting wading kit ,oil change ,seems a bit cheap matey must be doing a favour or ?
I live in Barnsley not Mansfield I only used him as he had the engine and heard he was good but I just need it checking over as the police are stopping us when we are offroading and checking the numbers but I'm also starting to hear things about him I just hope all is ok thanx
The parts wernt brand new and I had already paid £400 quid for a full engine with turbo inter cooler everything and then it was 650 for the oil replacement and fitting the engine and breather kit

Yeah but presuming all "parts" are second hand £40 for box, £120 for turbo, £25 for a brand new wading kit and the fact that he's keeping the old engine (I think as not yet been corrected) I reckon that might be a little expensive wouldn't you say ?

Overall bill was just over a grand ?
Yes the bill was £1050 and still got a oil leak and coolant leak and and still got a 200 turbo as he said they are the same turbo so dint change it also I had to pay £100 quid to have it toed back to his garage but now I'm gunna have to take it to my local garage and get the engine oil leak and coolant leak sorted as I use it for day to day use and need a bit a reliability

i read your post again he hadnt done any of the work anyhow ,id worry if numbers on block didnt look right ,worth asking police if hes not forthcoming
