I know that asking tyre questions is kind of the cardinal sin around these parts, so I will ask, very carefully lol.

At some stage in the future I'd like to whip off my standard xs alloys, do a camel cut and replace them with 5.5 inch defender rims, and some 7.00 16 tyres like the camel discos.

Two questions;
1. Is it particularly hard to find tyres 7.00 16 tyres, as it seems that way to me?

2. Apart from being better off by slicing through the mud, are there any advantages or disadvantages to doing this? and how much will it effect on road handling?

i had 7.50 r16's defender steels fitted to my disco at standard height with no modifications (ie. no camel cut)

i cant comment on no.1 but i assume 7.50 size would be easier to find as a lot of people still have them on defenders etc.

no2. obviously if the muds really deep and it slices through, your stuck. but that's the great debate over narrow vs wide tyres. and as i found with my 7.50 xzl road handling was 'exciting' to say the least, very little tyre there and with such an aggressive tread wet conditions become just dangerous. I only fitted mine on the day i wanted to take it off road.
