I'm just about to replace my thermostat but before attempting this can someone advise whether I require a gasket as I haven't received one. If a gasket is required can I use a liquid gasket.

Forget cornflake box ad it isn't moisture resistant

Yeh instant gasket will do if you don't have one.
Mates 200 boiled when in the middle of nowhere so took the stat out and made a gasket out of beer mats from an odd pub (in the middle of the nowhere place!!). It sealed it a treat!! Drove 300miles home on it and didn't leak a bit!
