Hi everyone,

Wondered if someone could help me. I have a 2.5 turbo diesel that needs a thermostat change, but I'm not sure what one to go for, I've sourced about 5 so far but some stat that they run to 74 degrees and others run to 82 degrees, which one is best for my engine?

Thanks for any help.

As a general rule of thumb, the hotter an engine runs, without overheating, the more efficient it will run. 82deg isnt very hot.

Go for the 82 as mhm says...as a brucie bonus your cab heater will be marginally better.

Check it first with a pan of boiling water and a thermometer. I bought three new ones before I got one that opened when it was meant to!

They weren't Sh*tpart were they? I went through two Sh*tpart temp sensors, neither of which worked, before getting an LR original one for just a couple of squids more.

I had a Land Rover 300 tdi thermostat in a fully re manufactured engine and the thermostat stuck closed and boiled the new engine after only 2 weeks running !!! All ways check a thermostat for operation, Even original ones !

Tape a digital thermostat to your top hose to check thermostat and see how your temp gauge is working.
