Hi,
Thinking my td4 has a stuck open thermostat. barely any warm air through heaters and temp gauge barely moves off the min!!!
It's never been great heating up but I use it more for towing I have noticed its got worse

what sort of prices would a garage be looking at charging for a stat change? not sure what the book time is for this job

considering doing it myself, but it is cold outside now lol

Cost of the thermostat plus an hour labour l would think. Pick a nice day and do it yourself : )

The needle barely moves so about 10 o'clock postition.
Id rather get the problem fixed rather than mod it for the inline stat.

Just wondered the book time garages would charge.

It's a manual td4

It's a bloody nightmare to change. I am told it takes up to 4 hours. That's why I put an inline stat in mine

Absolutely. It can be 4 + hours job to change. The part is about £60 + the 4 hours labour.
The mod takes under an hour and £10 for the gates inline stat.
You choose which you'd rather pay;)

Thought I'd update you.
Did the thermostat myself at home took about 4 hours!
It's totally do able at home but if you rarely play around with cars I wouldn't recommend it.

Hardest part is the metal pipe getting it out the way to remove the stat and fitting the stat. But start to finish 4 hours so not bad going.

Tested old stat it was opening at 25 degrees haha no wonder it never heated up!!
Temp dial sits perfect and heating actually works!!!! Only been running that old stat for 2 years
Now I tow more for my racing thought I'd best get it done

Sorry to jump in guys, but I'm ordering this thermostat as mines stuck open. Which was around does the stat sit in the pipe?
