Ok your talking to a guy who's a muppe with this! So I assume I just seal the drain hole of the air filter then? Or am I missing something and there's a filter in the snorkel? At the mo the filter is at the front and did wonder how you seal it fully as the clips at the bottom I couldn't Imagen seal enough

leave the drain as it is - its designed to stop water getting in but will allow water out

there might be a crappy bit of coarse foam across the intake to the snorkel but that shouldn't be considered as a replacement air filter

it might be a good idea to post some image's showing what snorkel and what existing air filter setup you have to avoid confusion

No, there's no filter in the snorkel. It's just a pipe.

What engine you got? 200tdi, 300tdi, etc?

What snorkel did you get?

Pics?

According to the instructions of most snorkels you're meant to seal the holes in the base of the box

the base of the air filter box ?

so what happens when driving rain gets dragged down through the air intake ?

most of the drains are just flappy rubber seals that perish or harden with age and tend to allow water in - that's why peeps say to seal them up, but you'll just get a soggy filter, not so bad with the oil bath types

It's the correct side but picture shows wron. I have the wing vent and have a 2.5na engine with the airfilter housing at the front

so I assume you have a air intake on the vertical side of your wing ?

inside there will be a feed to the air filter

I cant make out exactly the type of snorkel you have but generally you remove the grill from the wind - run a bead of good quality sealant around the mating face and offer up the lower bend from the snorkel kit - unless someone has messed with the standard air intake/filter you should have to do anything under the bonnet

take off the drain tube and replace it with a tap ;).

Used to have a snorkel but was removed I have a side intake and it hold just go straight on after taking the mesh off! I was just concerned that the pipes with the clips on them Thr attach to filter / engine intake etc would they be a good enough seal! Gonna get some rvt as u guys mentioned it and it seems good

have seen the ebay snorkel now - that's practically the same as I fitted to my old 110 - I would suggest getting some suitably sized stainless jubilee clips to clamp the flexi to the rigid as the usual clip over clamps they supply are pants

Right okey dokey will get some when it arrives so I can get correct size! can't believe all the filter casing etc is fine as is! Madness!

post some pics of the route from the air intake to the filter - under the bonnet

if it's standard it'll be fine

Drain tube? I only have a drain hole in my filter mate no pipe! Unless you mean different!

it's not really a tube - more of a ducks bill

I can't see final attachment will look when stopped storming but seems standard but the heater is in the way to get a good look! Will get looking for sure as I we'd 100%water tight

Also is that what I should change it to or I already have!

that's very similar to what you should already have - you might want to get a new one
