Here in Moscow, the petrol is dirt cheap. It might be minus 20 outside, but the snow is shovelled off the pavements, the roads are kept clear, and every building I visit is properly heated.

Oh, how I'm looking forward to coming back to the UK next month!

Russia= world largest oil reserves ,

hang on and bit your tongue Tony:(. The price for crud oil is by the barrel and Opac sets the price . The brit government tax's it at a higher rate than the USA don't cry about gas prices to me. Complain to your government for excessive taxing

I was not crying to you John, i was saying that the excessive tax we are paying is being wasted amongst other things to prop up countries who apparently don't need or don't deserve the hand outs. We are also paying tax to help supposedly a none existant man made warming of the planet. We produce 2% lets produce 5% and have cheaper fuel. The pricks who rule us think they lead the world, when they could not organise a maypole dance. It's about time we looked after ourselves a bit and stopped trying to influence the world, when any influence we ever had at one time, disappeared long ago. I was not aware the the UK and US were in OPEC.

Yes Keith we are being screwed as usual. 50% of the oil from the North sea goes over to the states so they can have cheap fuel.
We are your largest customer of UK exported oil. We pay the same for oil rather it is from the UK or Saudi oil. I would rather my money go to the UK than Saudi:D So what I'm saying is we pay the same for oil as you, our is taxed less by our government.

Opec just sets the world oil price, like the diamond company sets the price, and same as the gold price

That is one stupid remark. Just like saying I want more per troy ounce for gold than what the world market is, and see how much you sell

Think if you look into it John we have to sell the oil to the USA at a preferential rate, it's in the contracts we signed to get the US oil men to open the wells up. Don't know much about it but might be worth a search if you're interested.

I have heard it mentioned by politicians over here. Basically we sold ourselves down the river to get at the oil. Something to do with the contracts we signed to get the Yanks to drill the holes i think. They were the only ones who could do it at the time. Worth a look.

John i don't know the ins and outs of it. Only that some politician said we sold ourselves down the river with the first exploration contracts. Because only the Yanks at the time could do it. That is all i heard. OPEC don't control the north sea we do. Any price that was agreed with your lot is between us and you. Nowt to do with OPEC. Brent is the best oil on the planet for turning into motor fuel it's so cheap to refine. Just saying we should be getting more out of it than we do, byway of cheaper fuel that's all. Our governments excuse is that we are paying more to cut down carbon emissions when we hardly produce any. Then the money we pay in fuel tax is given to wonga bonga land to buy tanks and planes or develop nuclear bombs. It's bloody farce.

Long weekend in the Alps. 4 days of snow. The Rangie remained parked indoor. Too much (snow) is too much…

I agree with Datatek, was up at the cairngorm on sunday and while everyone played I shivered and moaned, and it ruins a round of golf.
