Hi Guys,
Just a brain pick in the hope someone has experienced this one.
Usuall story, intermittant 3 lights on dash, then on constant. Then MOT - Fail for the ABS lights. Found Reluctor ring u/s on front drive side and sensor resitance nil, replaced CV and sensor, and all reading etc fine now. When i now turn on ignition, HDC light goes out, ABS and T/C stay on till 5mph is reached, all go out for a second or 2 then all back on, when engaged in 1st or Rev, HDC is working! i've done all usual other checks, connections on ABS modulator, brake light switch and HDC switch etc and a few technical taps here and there but all to no avail! New brake light switch coming but not sure this is problem. Hope someone has experienced and rectified this at some point.

may need to clear fault codes to sort this out

Bl**dy switch arrived today and its wrong one! For some reason i'd convinced myself it was an upgraded unit with modified harness but now realise that all i can do is swap existing with a new one. its a 1998 1.8i SW. The switch is P/No xkb100080L, is it possible this could still be cause of lights on dash? I have stripped and checked switch but it made no difference and also had codes cleared after sensor etc was fitted!I don't ever give up so i'll get it eventually!!!!1

Cheers Hippo, Unfortunately thats not the same switch that i've got that he's changing, think i've got the very first on. It only has 2 spade connectors onto it and no intermediate plug, my wiring comes from switch straight into loom.

The original switch was the same one used on the P38 range rovers, which is why it suffers failure wiv it being an electrical item. :( The later switch is betterer and dun't fail. Would be betterer for you to get one of those and the little wiring loom convertor.

Hmm, i've just sent new switch back cos mine only has 2 wires going to it and they jus plain old spade connectors (original, not tampered with)and new with harness adaptor is 3 wires and would just not connect in. i'm mechanical not electrical so no idea if it would work or should i just buy a new original switch and wapp it in?
Your assistance is appreciated. I'm stumped that HDC light now goes out on ignition and tc and abs stay on and 5mph brings all back on every time! grrrr summat aint rite but i just cant bloody find it!

I've been experiencing the same fault for a week now too. Did the diagnostic check ( see http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f9/freelander-abs-pump-failure-info-167443.html) ,checked all 4 sensors and found circa 950 ohms , and ordered a new brake switch with harness.
Looked underneath dash today and found my switch is same as yours with two spade connections and affixed to the pedal cradle by a spring bayonet method , also noted it was hard up against the rear of the fuse box mounting plate making it difficult to remove ! I think the early FL's had a switch that isn't compatible with the later mod with additional harness so mine will be going back too . Looks like it'll be a like for like replacement.
Incidently I believe I may have found my problem . The HDC switch wires had been cut and spliced into different cable at the base of the gearstick for some reason. I've had the car for 9 years now so who did I don't know , anyway the join consisted of the two wires being twisted together and one had been slowly pulled apart by the movement of the gearstick.
Properly crimped now and the three little buggers haven't been seen since so here's hoping.
Good luck with yours and let us know what switch you use.

Edit PS
Nah they're back , Ho Hum.......

i'll do an ecu clear/reset and if that fails i'll stick a standard replacement switch in for brakes. It may also spontaneously combust at the side of bloody road!!!
