Hi guys busy working on my discovery 2 to make it perfect, well perfect to me and the way it should have been from the factory. I started with the first problem which didnt arrise to it was ten years old and then seemed to have problem after problem. As each problem arises I replace with custom hopefully better parts as well as trying to cure the inherent dicovery 2 probs. My latest 1 which I haope some1 can help steer me in the rite direction is my turbo is making sum mad noises, I think its passing tru a few svds in the manifold. Im not sure if this made my lag a lot worse but on a drive yesterday towing a classic car I had bother moving it off the mark having to get revs well up and slip the clutch. Since I put a mas flow, big intercooler, stainless ehaust tho cat is still there, samco hoses, drv doc map and boost box I thought it wasnt as bad tho was going to do more. Im nt thinking of a vnt and flow head, manifold and possible cam if 1 could be sourced. Thoughts and help greatly appreciated.

Didnt understand a word of that...but return it to standard it's perfactly capable as standard no need to waste money on custom bolt on bits...tuning is an art...just watched Iain Tyrrell tune an Aston Marton DB4gt with a screwdriver and a bit of hosepipe...

Sounds like either the turbo is on its way out, the induction system is mismatched or the mapping is wrong for the mods. My guess is its all getting mis matched and the flow is unstable through the turbo.

I couldnt do that. Before I started tunning the discovery it could hardly pull my sports boat up my lane. Had to go to low range! For a landrover lover it pains me to say this but my fathers 2.5 touraeg did far better and wasnt a bother. His tuned v10 is a differenet storey

It did go wellish after these mods. The map was done to suit the mods. Sure tho boost passing throuhh the svd couldnt cause all that.

Trick is to get it running decent (=power) before modding. Increasing power on an already unhealthy engine won’t end well.

Decently running standard D2 will pull

You should have looked at why it couldn't because it should have...youve still got the underlying problem...

The perfect Discovery is a 100% original and 100% working order Discovery. I would stretch to a bluetooth module for the standard headunit, a set of top quality AT tires and maybe a stage 1 remap. Just like mine will be once I've got the remap.

The wagon was running perfect before I touched her. Well I changed mas flow first and then did the tunning. It had 65k 6n her then. Its now got sum more on it.

Sounds nice. Tho for me I spend most of the time towing or tsing as a van when weather too bad for van out never mind organising classic road trips so I like power, handling and mod cons wrapped up in the disco body. Ill leave the serious off roading to the rougher wagon.

it was rubbish orginally like any disco 2, when we were pulling the boat up the lane we had to go to low range. This was a little to do with the mas air flow which was changed first. Then was tunned. It went ok but 30k later it started the whinning which is the gasket and stud. Tho lag now seems worse and a real pain towing

I tow a caravan, in a standard auto. Not had any issues with power. Perhaps your truck is just shagged.

65k is nothing for a Disco?
You’ve had it from new lucky sod.
Thanks. Its been treated like a baby and treated to the best of everything. Never needed welded so I treated the chassis to soda blast n paint. It will retired from full time winter use in the nxt 3 yrs. Think new defender will fill fill its shoes
