I took the car to Halfrauds as I usually do for an MOT £29.99 inter web offer. Sour faced bag SFB on the desk says "it'll be an ower" so I go for a walk. I head back after about 40 mins because it never usually takes that long and lucky I did as the tester has the rear tailgate in bits. I ask the SFB if I can approach the tester and after an exchange she capitulates, so I say what are you doing? He says your drivers side fog light is not functioning and its a fail, the nearside is fine so surely a pass? He states if you have a matched pair they must both be operable, so its a fail, new unit £200 from BMW. However, he says if I disable the nearside its a pass :) So, I now have no fog lights and the car passed!

Surely this is complete cobblers?

Bullshit, only one fog lamp is required fitted from centre to off side at rear. If there are no fogs lamps working on a vehicle made after April 1980 it's a fail. Go back and tell him he's a tit.
