If you need urgent help look HERE You can try PMing those closest to you or list the names in a thread and a mod will try and contact them for you.

The red circle icons are members with diagnostic kit. If you click on the icon a pop up box should tell you what kit they have so you know whether it could be of any help.

If the OP of new threads are reported they will probably come to the attention of mods sooner.

Just a thought.
Is it possible for expats to offer any knowledge of useful Indy's etc. that they know of in their areas? This does not mean they have to do anything at all except give out a recommendation for those of us who have the misfortune to need help. I always take out breakdown insurance when going over to France, but, in the event of a breakdown (which I am incapable of doing anything about!), the car is 'taken to a local garage'. I would feel happier if I knew it was going to be somewhere with a recommendation - even if I have to pay extra for a longer journey. My upcoming trip is from Calais to Brittany!

Anything that can be offered that might be useful is worth putting on the map. One thing in particular abroad apart from local knowledge is folk that could translate via telephone. Wouldn't even need to be in the country.

ie If someone speaks fluent Italian but lives in the UK a marker could be put in Italy with details of what they could offer in the pop.

Just a thought after getting back from France.

Local garage that did great service on Drover last year and should be on the map - even though he speaks next to no English and he's not a LR specialist he went out of his way to get me sorted with a front driver side brake pipe - sending somebody on a trip just to get the pipe flared as he didn't have the right sized kit to hand.

For lunchtime/afternoon, without me asking, lent me a 'courtesy car' without seeing me licence or insurance - albeit a beat up yet very fast Renault Megane.

Only charged me 89 euros, so I rounded it up to the full 100 for him being a top bloke.

His details are :-

David Automobiles
45 Route de Montmorillon, 86290 La Trimouille, France

Keeps the following hours, but like all small garages this might be 'flexible'

Monday 08:00 - 12:00 14:00 - 18:30
Tuesday 08:00 - 12:00 14:00 - 18:30
Wednesday 08:00 - 12:00 14:00 - 18:30
Thursday 08:00 - 12:00 14:00 - 18:30
Friday 08:00 - 12:00 14:00 - 18:30
Saturday 08:00 - 12:00

Right next door to L'Ile aux Serpents - so while yer motor is being pondered over, you can go and look at some snakes and stuff, or wander back into La Trim and maybe get a bite to eat or just ponder the river running by!!

Garage automobile et agent Volkswagen, Montmorillon, Vienne

Monday to Friday : 8h00 – 12h00 / 14h00 – 18h00
Saturday : Atelier : 8h00 – 12h00
Commercials (M to F) : 08h00 - 12h00 / 14h00 – 18h00

SWMBO's Passat was serviced by them about 3 years ago when we were out in France and the service light came on - just happened to pop in, on a whim for a price, just curious as you do - 140 euros for a full VW stamped service - Cardiff VW £289 for the same thing at the time!!

Car was serviced by Louis Sarrazin himself and his son. He spoke very good English, asd he'd obviously been to VW in Germany for dealer training etc.

Cheers for that, added to the map with a blue car icon

Not sure if a VW specialist is our bag, decent general mechs and LR specialists makes more sense

Sarrazins does general stuff anorl. Just happens to be the Veedub place but also the local Claas fixer. So he knows his mechanicals.

HI all,
I cant work out how to put myself on the map.
I'm a Thiviers,in the North Dordogne,24800.I can offer recovery and mechanic.
I can also recomend Landypoint SARL - Annette's Land Rover place
This is an indy Landy spares stockist,(not a garage)all the staff speak English.Plus they will post anything out to anywhere in France.

I too would like to know how to get on the map, were in central Dordogne 24380, can offer translation, help, moral support and lots of cups of tea and coffee not to mention emergency rations ( we own a restaurant)!
