So, 2inch up and a new steering damper.
And the good thing is when one exchanges old dampers for new ones +2” you don’t notice a change in behaviour. So yes +1 on drive ability.

Bought the wrong battery, or might someone know how to switch + and - ;) but i hope this solves the s/m/d problem

What shocks/springs did you use for the +2"? And what size tires are those?

Shocks are from supergas/britpart +2”
Tire size now a bit to small for my likings but is 265/70/16.

As for m/s/d blinking did put in a new battery and drove around for one hour and this isn’t going to solve the problem.... search continues. Next guess xyz

The tires do look small in the picture. With the 2" lift I guess a 265/75r16 will look better (or 235/85r16, same diameter)
 
As for today, the search continued for the smd / limb mode fault.

Checked wire and harness and this seems fine... (darn)

Read out gives, Lockup solenoid open circuit or short to ground. So next week we check the valve block inside the transfer box. Haha is that inside there, no clue but got good help! Which means also an other job done from the list, changing transerbox fluids and filter and a glimpse of the box itself.

Did fix an old fuel pump issue, we had lack of power when buying this hobby. Pump did pass fuel but not enough and so the fuel system was running on vacuum instead of battery power :) Quick fix was power line to the nearest power point and power it continues on startup (12v accessories point at the back).

Today we or he narrowed the problem to, main to the back was good. Relais was working. Signal from the engine ecu was working, signal from ecu to the relais gave nothing to measure.
Problem was the contact on the black ecu plug, could cost a slight fortune @ a normal garage and learned today what “rave” can do :)

So,

The s/m/d problem is solved and it was a main to ground,witch caused the gearbox to shut a solenoid and went into lockup.
I have checked the wiring harnesses before but should buy some glasses. Found a stripped wire :)

Next on the list, the power problem.
We ordered a straight exhaust pipe to exchange the catalyst, it could full of dirt and blocking the exhaust flow and I want it out.

There is a minor play on the turbo rotor could that be it?
Al airflow pipes have been checked and are ok, replaced suspicious delaminates ones.

Problem is, turbo not reaching full output power. Yep checked this little valve thingy or wastegate, runs freely.

So, to be continued.

After normal maintenance and a bit of care, I don’t have any complaints for almost a whole year now on our D2

whoop whoop!

Or did I sign unfortunates now?

Everyone stepped out fine, could even take out the important stuff. Dogs, paperwork etc.

This was one year ago, and stil dunno why.
Yeah, bulkhead insulation caught fire.
And i didn’t bring a fire extinguisher 🤛

So much for starting a great vacation.
We even detached our caravan and let the car down hill so all safe.

It took at least 15min’s till fire came in from motor compartment to the inside of the carriage.

Now that’s safety ✅
 
That wasnt a like cos of the fire :oops: .

It was cos everybody, pets and peeps are safe. Oh and the caravan.

I once had a car fire when delivering a kit car to a buyer in Cornwall. I too had left the fire extiguisher behind. Eventually after casting around for something to use instead I remembered that I had a gallon of water in the footwell to top up any coolant leaks that may occur on the journey. I put the fire out with that. But it left me needing a new fibreglass bonnet, damage to be repaired to the side engine compartment and new ignition electrics. It was an MGTF copy and the firs started due to damp in the distributor cap. My missus was follwoing me and drove straight back to the house to get the extinguisher as it only happened 400 yds from the house. But it is a salutory lesson! And it shows that in a car fire unless there are floods of petrol or diesel, water will do. I'm assuming here that you had water in the caravan. And again maybe you couldn't get the bonnet open or the fire was by that time roaring out of control.
Maybe it was better to make sure you got a write-off, dunno and I hope that doesn't sound heartless, it wasn't meant to.
 
Stanley, bought a new/other one wich is impressively well maintained.
The old one was good, up until.

Water, yes….
Have liters, so my first impression was keep everything safe.
A guy stoped and had a big extinguisher, 10 minutes too late. Costs coming in the car like welding and stuff was more as for this other car we bought. 🍀

And it’s already black 😂
