my loved td4 has now been sold i will not pay top wack for road tax. plus the selling price has now halfed......

So for the sake of paying an extra £100 on the tax you've lost 000's on the vehicle. Thats madness.

No, it's not madness, it's called standing up for your principles. My FL will cost around £430 to tax come 2010, though I will wait to see if there is any rethink on this. If not, I too will get rid of my car regardless of the depreciation hit & maybe look at something pre '72 as I've heard a rumour that they will ramp up the 1973 - 2001 road tax should they succeed with therir current proposals without too much opposition (heard this from a local councillor).

Tis madness indeed..... FL prices have dropped dramatically but personally dont think they will drop any further so you might as well get as many more miles as possible from it without any further depreciation.... Luckily mines early 2001 so the tax ****e dont get me (yet) and although not tax free will be worth a slight premium over slghtly later models ;-)

Possibly a slight hope next month's autumn budget might ease things but with a bankrupt country/government they are going to screw us down. I certainly will not change my comfortable Freelander for some economical minibox. I wonder what size vehicle the poor family were in on the M6 the other night?
