i wunder if sumone can help me. i have been asked by a frend with two kids if wen his wife is away in a cupple of weeks i could take them all off to the lakes. without being to meen ther not the slitest of famaleys and allthough i tride to take him on a walk over one of my favaret runs, we faled and had to come dawn of the tops earley as he wos two tyred. we have been thinking of walking around some of the lake sides and geting steemers back but this is not realy my thing. i yurn for the tops you see. so the salution... i wos hoping that now i have a disco 300 with a number of off road mods, can i drive up there? i have done a number of solo greenlains in north wales including the lane on part of offers dyke pass, but never up in the lakes and dont know wot will be relativley safe to do on my owne. any one help me?
 
I wouldn't recommend any of the ones I've looked at up here to do on your own.
 
i apologise for my seeming ignorance and blatent defiyance but... i can and will reverce and must see most things befor that defeat me. agane my apologeys for abruptnes.

Its not my first choice of choices off roading on my own!!!

It might have not caught you out yet but it will and it will be a long day for you, from being stuck in a field or up the some ridges.

I my self have a fairly substansial set up with the truck and recovery ropes and things, also have been off roading and greenlaning for a long time but I would not choose to go on my own !!
 
i heed you advice and takle things with cortion. void of this situation with children, wher i feal with considaration puting ther day at risc is daft. in my life i do lots on my owne for kiks. i surf at 6 in the moorning on my owne. i run rivers in my canoe on my owne. i climbe crags on my owne. i spend days walking the fells on my owne. all theys things are foolish you may say but i love it. chalinging isolation. i do all the above with frends aswell and am not a hurmit. on your owne though is still very good.

Without wanting to sound too harsh. You asked for the advice. We gave it to you. It's up to you wether you take it or not after all it is just advice. It's your funeral at the end of the day. Just remember that breakdown services are under NO obligation to come and get you if you get stuck. If they do come and get you the cost of doing it could outweigh the cost of your vehicle. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

At the very least. Would your friends go on standby for you for if you did go out on your own and get stuck or break down?

If you gave them a route of where you are going and a rough timescale at least if you did go missing or got stuck they would know approximately where you were AND where you were heading to and from.
 
ok. thats the type of thing i would do whenever i went out solo. walking and stuf its verey worth it. i would always call a frend wenever going out for a surf or climb and tell them when i expect to let them know im still safe. i have oftern found moor resantley that even in the middle of nowere thers phone signall on the top of the nerist big hill.
 
That's a pity... I'll still be in Berkshire or I'd have done the standby for you.
