I have two TD4s 2002 and a 2003 .The 2003 at 110560 was the first to lose its EGR by the 25p method of a 22mm endcap in the exhuast entry port of the EGR immediate improvment in fuel economy never had a stutter at 2000 rpm in the next 90000 miles still with the same end cap no corrosión now on 200732.
2002 EGR disabled same method as above at 92970 yet again fuel economy improved slightly better performance no engine stutter at 2000rpm now on 169422 end cap no corrosión.
Both cars have flown through Spanish ITV test for last eight years both at the lower end of emmision test limits when last tested in December and at start of this month

Well I have cured my mates misfire at 2000rpm with a new thermostat, engine was not reaching normal operating temperature. I'll leave you tech wizards to work this one out.
PS EGR enabled and original unit, 108,000 miles

The thermostat is on my to do list as I'm only seeing 74°C tops on mine. Maybe the engine running at the correct temperature is the answer?
