Hi,

Just thought you might like to see how my wife treats me.........

£9,000 of damage to her car. Note position of drivers door

£3,000 of damage to my Disco. Which she bought me four months earlier.

And the van was a write off too. Note position of OSF front wheel.

All she did was turn the key.......

Still she then bought me a 1960 Series 2 with a 200TD. And when that broke its lay shaft, she bought me a Disco van. Bought herself a brand new KIA out of the losses.

Be afraid.

FFS the only vehickle with any value there is the Van.. The disco's worth £500max and the Saabs only worth £1k at the absolute maximum

erm how can you do 9K worth of damage to a old Saab that's prolly worth 1500 squid and 3k to a disco that'd probably also not worth much more than the Saab ?

Someones telling porkies.....

Hi,

She parked the SAAB in front of my Disco, got out, saw her wheel was on the kerb. Put key back in ignition to release gear lever (necessary to put locked SAAB into neutral) shoved lever into neutral, dropped handbrake, tried to push car off kerb. It wouldn't budge.

So she climbed in, didn't even close the door, turned key intending to drive car forward. All hell broke loose. She NEVER uses accelerator pedal when starting. Hand brake was off, and she admits that she probably didn't get gear lever right out of reverse.........

I was indoors, all I heard was a farting noise, which I assume was the van tyre deflating to allow the wheel to go over the kerb.

Insurers offered her £200 for her SAAB, but actually INVITED her to show it was worth more. They settled for £650 which is what she paid two years previously.

HER insurers offered me £1100 for my Disco. I would have settled for half that, so grabbed it. They offered me the wreck for £110, but life was a bit hectic that week, so I refused. Silly me! Tyres were worth more than that.

Hi,

No! £9,000 was the cost to REPAIR it. The only panel not damaged was the passenger door. Even the NSF wing was damaged by the bonnet moving across.

As I said, we settled for £650.

i can see where he is coming from saying it was £9000 worth of damage to his disco because if he had to renew all the damaged parts and have it rejigged and labour in an approved repair center that s what it would probably cost . i had a peugeot 406 a few years ago , only worth about a grand and my neighbour reversed into it causing a dent in the rear quarter panel just above the wheel , the price quoted for repair was well over 2 grand , naturally they wrote it off

Hi,

Not mine, beloyed to a plasterer working on house across the road. Bloke who owns that house is grateful that it happened when it did......his brand new Honda Civic is normally parked there.

how does a car idling (she didn't touch the accelerator right?) shunt a van and a 4x4 each weighing much more than it... without stalling?

She must have MASHED the accelerator for that kind of damage

AGREED

used to have a classic saab myself a few years back and you have to lock the gears in reverse to remove the ignition key! so i stalled it a couple of times when getting in without thinking and turning the key  i never took a street of cars out though lol :D
