I liked the weather. Can you book it again for next year? Maybe a little warmer in the evening

Genuinely can't think of any bad points for the weekend whilst I was there, apart from maybe the toilets having difficultys the morning after the curry but I don't know how many people were affected by that or if it got resolved after I went. But that's a minor detail.
Cracking job by all involved!

So who will open the planning thread for next year?

What were your impressions people who went?

NO PROBS WITH THIS YEAR - REALLY ENJOTED IT - but how many more could have helped?

So not all sh*t is taken on by a small few - or was I mistaken?

Thanks to all who spent their time making such an enjoyable event.

However to involve the unheard populous :
Event location - to stop bitching - take a poll.
What needs to happen?
What events need to take place?
Intro Day (Friday.. get ****e to site xxx am.. bar erected.. nn turn up to create the event..)
Day one (Sat) Green lane 1,2,3 Start 12:00; 12:30; 13:00, whatever
leaders, 5no max per route, route intro & rules to the lanes

Who does what - and by when?

What is needed?
What food?
By when?

At what cost to create / and per vehicle / person?

Day 2 - what happens there? - everyone disappeared off it seems to me; OK if a long way to go but no goodbyes - sigh.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ok I can see a lot arrive Saturday am, do some laning and then disappear Sun am to get back to wherever

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The solution is..?

We cannot have a ceremonial parade of people through the gates to meet each other, but what?

one gents loo and no toilet paper replenishment could be improved.

We (mr and mrs skint) were really impressed by the WC provision.

We wait to see what the hire company has to say on the return

On the Monday am there was ....

I wasn't aware there was an issue with the loo, certainly worth sorting out.

The way it's worked so far is we've asked for help and ideas, if an idea seems possible and popular AND someone is prepared/offers to do what is necessary to make it happen they're invited into a closed group to sort details and coordinate with the rest of those helping.

It's not to be secretive but sometimes it's impossible to get clear with dozens of opinions in amongst banter.

This year there was about 10 people in the closed group and we got a lot of support :)

I've been thinking about how to spread the workload over the weekend and one of my first thoughts was to make the kitchen area bigger so there was room to help without getting in the way

Must admit we ain't been involved this year which I feel quite guilty about... reasons I'm not sure..maybe no time on the forum lately.. And I guess it arrived before we noticed.. It must of done cos I packed on Friday morning  tbf don't think much change is needed.. Happy with loos, we took our own food as cheaper for us 3. Maybe more variety in the music..rock kinda tired of it after a few tunes. Bit more who is who would be good..I know name lanyards were great idea.. But forum names is a must not half names or first names.

Urrmm yeah.

When we left today, there was a large obstacle or two in the gents wc
there was no paper in any of the cubicles (look was just not me Mrs skink said so too.)

No paper at all in any of the hand dispensers

The WC's as delivered were just so brilliant and clean.

Mind you, how can any one project numbers of attendees for either one or the other events.

I hope that the trailers can cope.

I loved it, and the missus did too ..

We always take our own food, beer and loo roll when camping, so had no issues at all .. :)

Couldn't fault the bar, missus drinks Real Ale, I don't, Couldn't fault the burger (whatever) I had, or the cakes and the collection box for Freddy .. was odd looking round for him and him not being there somewhere!

Venue excellent, laning excellent, PnP excellent if small but for £20 was a pleasant diversion for Sunday .. ;)

Any help leading groups next year, I'm your man .. ;) Dunno if we can help any other way ...

What went well - Layout of marquee
Getting the groups all sorted and out on the laning trip
Disco
Having hot food (not just burgers) available
The bar
What could be improved upon - Get a hot dog/burger van in (they make money, we don't
have to cook so much)
Better facilities for kids in case it rains...we were lucky this year with
the weather
Turn the music off at midnight
Ensure all laning routes are exactly as described with one route for
newbie laners and shiny motors

We did have another space that Ponty dragged up for us for a kids space to dhow films etc but with the weather we didn't quite get round to putting it up  I do regret that a bit.

We looked into burger vans last year but they want high guaranteed numbers or to take a non returnable deposit.

we're right on the border line numbers wise to get a bar interested though they seemed happier this year :)

If the annual LZ meet is to become a slicker more pro event with full facilities etc, can we have some proper grass roots low cost camping in forests eat what you bring huddled under a tarp strung between landys get home soaked and stinking of bonfires type things too? Maybe even a winter one?

lol

Chippy run

It's nigh on impossible working out how to cater for people... It's fine people bringing their own but the danger is at times it felt a little segregated at times .. With groups tending to stick around their own fires and just popping over to the main marquee once in a while....

Agin with people bringing their own food , was a real stab in the dark on numbers to cook for.....as it was we had to throw best part of 25 portions of curry and chilli away and whilst the costs were covered and some profit made for the charity I felt bad for the time rob had put into the cooking for it to then end up not wanted and in the bin ....wondering if we don't include the food in the ticket price ....I don't know ...but we have to do it a bit differently next year. The danger is if we continue the same but more people bring their own each time until we don't even cover our costs and have a huge amount of waste

Enjoyed the weekend. The notice board made things much more organised in my opinion so definitely something to keep for next time around! Was good to see more people turn up this year. Would like to have that number increase more of course!

I know this is a slightly touchy subject but wouldn't mind a different location next time, perhaps something a bit further north where the terrain is a bit different? I know you had considered this last time but know you had difficulty in finding a suitable site.

In relation to food numbers, how about if people have the option to buy a separate ticket for food? Either covering a single meal or for the weekend?

Either way, great stuff and again thanks to everyone that made the weekend a success.

Can genuinely say I don't mind if the location is changed...what I would say is that you need to have the manpower of volunteers to organise things in that particular location...no way could We have done what we did for an event 100 miles away, same goes for the others, so you'd need to scout out sites, arrange catering, sort out landing groups / other activities, find hotels etc from the members from that area......You need the infrastructure too if you're changing locations
