Yes it’s was a Jaguar produced engine as fitted to the D3, RRS and RR back then, and it wasn’t fitted to any Jaguar vehicle.Hiya
been trying to establish does anyone know if the 4.4 are jag engines please in the D3 as I know I’ve seen mention of ford
yeh i know , had mine 4 x years now and keep getting this itch for a V8
many thks as always
Many thks as always
see they can be bought for around £6-7k for half decent one
alas only do low mileage , 1-2,000 miles max in a year
don’t know if I’ve read it right but supposed to be the jag AJ8 engine , would assume around town 15mpg on a run maybe 20mpg, dropping to around 12 mpg in the winter
Don’t know if it’s right but a petrol engine is more forgiving for not being used all the time , don’t know how true that is
just looked , insurance group 42

Do it Gary. You'll not regret it. Most are HSE spec, so loaded with toys. The only thing I don't like, is all V8s seem to come with cream leather, which I hate, and I feel the V8 is overpriced.yeh i know , had mine 4 x years now and keep getting this itch for a V8
If I only did a couple of thousand miles a year, I'd have the V8 petrol, no question. It's a much nicer engine than the 2.7 V6 derv unit. Doesn't suffer sudden crankshaft failure, and doesn't need timing belts to be replaced.
The only thing I don't like about Ford based engines, is the reliance on powdered metal con rods, which can stretch at the big end, if lots of high RPMs are used. Otherwise the AJ41 is pretty bomb proof.
I had a D3 V8 for a few days, before I bought my TDV6, and it got about 16 Mpg, compared to the diesels 21 Mpg.
Smooth and quiet, more quiet than the TDV6, although with a lovely V8 berble in the background, especially if you give some beans.may i ask what did u think of it plse, bet it was very quiet at motorway speeds
The V8 only came in auto, so there's no choice anyway.Might get shot for this but would have to get an auto , can’t push a clutch down any more
Same as the TDV6, although the brakes are larger and more expensive, but strangely last longer. Otherwise it's identical to the TDV6 with maintenance.plus apart from the engine everything else I know what I’m looking for , don’t think it would be to bad to service mysel

If I found a sensible mileage, sensible priced V8 with black leather, I'd have it, no question.
thks, am the same would like one in black , interior black as well
for all the time I can remember I’ve always wanted a V8 ,
dam it I just looked

It's a shame it's so far away from me, as I'd be tempted by that little beauty.
Warning , don’t watch if u have a nervous disposition , lol
he seemed to be gone awhile up the road ..... was he filling it up with fuel ?
For the mileage you do, LPG is a waste of time - struth, for 2k miles per year, having a car is almost a waste of time ! ( and I am not suggesting you do that ! )
If you've got an itch to scratch mate, you carry on and give it a damn good scratch

Hear hear, fully agree if you got an itch, scratch it! I do that many miles in a month and still have a 4.4. V8 , albeit a TDV8.
Cheers
I wouldn’t have 1 V8 in our stable
just do it G
aslong as you don’t pay much to change don’t think your mileage and fuel cost comes into the equation.
