Ok this is the deal, my son has worked at Land Rover in sales for 8 years, The service department informed me that my 1997 Land Rover discovery Ecm that I replaced does not have to be flashed / reprogrammed . When I replace my Ecm it was because I would loose the trigger signal on 2 coils only , now I have the same problem after changing the ECM, the Disco runs GREAT when all 4 coils are firing , rebuilt engine new crank sensor , new everything. I am convinced it is a ECM problem, no one has a answer

what is your problem ie symptoms

based on the bolded part i'm quite convinced that it's not the ECM then, you should check the wiring between the ECM and coil pack cos it might be a weak contact somewhere which reacts to heat, check the ECM plug and connector C1002 to not have loose pins or something, in most cases when a symptom persists after ECM replacement the problem is in the wiring so insist on that eventually replace the engine harness

Are you sure it's not something in the coil pack or the connectors? did you unpin the connectors and put new wire or spliced into the wire near the connectors cos then the connectors are not ruled out... the symptom being the same with two different ECMs it should be a very odd coincidence to be a ECM issue

Same problem with the coil trigger disconnect, new coils, switch the coils that are working with the ones that's not same problem, very strange issue ,
 
As long as you just spliced with new wire into the existing wire near the plugs the connectors are not ruled out IMO
