What do you think of Britpart?

I had a gear stick gaiter off them to replace my 30 odd year old perished genuine one, it lasted just over a year.
 
first off, i did buy britpart.
then i realised just how substandard these parts are. doors not fitting, new doortops going rusty very quick. brake and clutch components failing. brake shoes wearing out seemingly instantly, drums being out of round from new, bushes... dont even get me started! 6 weeks and they were knackered.

ive given them second and third chances and i still have the same opinions.
they havent replied to my complaints

ive bought 1 britpart thing in the last year, an ignition switch purely for the fact that britpart is £6 and OEM is £48 +vat.
ill see how long it lasts!


You complained, and yet still carried on buying from them. Why would they waste time and £ repling to you

This quote sums the whole argument up!!! You bought it because you are on a budget! you knew it was cheap but you still bought it..Brit Part is ****e but if you are on a budget like most of us are it has its place.
 
Bought two parts recently.

Britpart 110 rear mudguards, seem good quality.

Britpart 300tdi rear door lock, seems as good as the OE and fits perfectly.
 
Border Holdings (U.K.) Ltd, trading as Britpart have a market value of £57M!!!! That I believe gives them the biggest part of the Land Rover parts market.

For 15 years I've been using their stuff and had no problems.

As I put in another post, it's just statistics, if your the largest supplier you'll have the larger number of complaints.

A PR campaign on their part to show they are running a continuous quality improvement policy may help market relations, but then again looking at their success do they need to?

Land Rover them selves are not renowned as the most reliable of vehicle manufacturers but we buy them!
 
Well....today l received a Britpart wing top air intake cover, and also the blank for the other wing. A fiver for the two!
Quality is OE standard (although l admit they are just plastic mouldings) and the price was 20% of the main dealer quote.

have just took delivery of to new britpart stub axles - only to find the front wheel bearing will not fit on the axle, as the axle is .3mm bigger (on both axles) than the internals on the bearing. its not much if you have a hammer? and you dont give a sh## about the bearing splitting or you could shave the axle to the right dimentions using the bearing housing in the surefire knowledge you'll never get the bugger off again and you will never be able to adjust the end float and the wheel bearings your putting in forever and a day are not britpart..........................or like me take em back and never buy from them again. sorry folks gotem on a friday, lost a whole weekend now ranting on a monday.
 
The exhaust system I got from paddocks was a britpart.

I decided to paint it before fitting to try and get an extra year or two out of it.

Looks great, fitted a treat and came with free hangers and bolts.

The seam on the silencer was leaking from the moment I fired it up.

Hey ho. It was only a few quid and I'll probably buy another when the time comes.
 
Maybe just use them for trim parts?

I've had loads of Britpart trim items and all have been fine at a fraction of LR dealer prices.
For example Britpart seat bases, rear sidelights, gear knob, floor mats, headlamp trims and front grille, centre seat belt, rear door lock and barrel set, door weatherseal strip, front screen seal, etc all fitted well with no issues.
One exception was Britpart side runners which fitted but took some fiddling and still don't fit that well.
 
I have had brake masters failing on installation, and wheel cylinders studs falling out.....

Brought a suspension sensor for my l322. Faulty straight out the box. Typical junk ive come to expect from them. Brought of ebay supplier but didnt know i was receiving britpart. I avoid them all the time i buy parts
 
bought the galv shock turret kit DA1186 for the defender.

thick metal, fitted fine, good value. galv looked a bit rough.. so sprayed with dinitrol.

first britpart going on next week .its a starter motor from paddocks it turned in a britpart box, so we shall see

9/10 parts i've bought i've purchased have been of very good standard, the 1/10 wheel bearings which lasted 200 miles.
Ended up going Timken but i haven't had any problems with other components.

People rave about Bearmach but personally they are just the same as Britpart. Swings and roundabouts.
If Britpart the brand is not up to standard then pay OEM. If you can't afford OEM then you got to buy aftermarket.

I've always wondered why when the name Britpart is mention its usually negative. But being and engineering and conscious of quality,
for aftermarket products they are good. I've found Allmakes4x4 components have been excellent also.

I disagree. You need to look at the markets, there are always going to be people out there who will buy at the bottom end of the market and it doesn't matter what market it is, an inexpensive alternative almost always will exist - sadly not for the Nivomats fitted to my car though! People will buy bottom of the market for financial and reasons of being realistic. Why buy a £200 Makita drill/driver to put up 2 shelves in a bedroom! You're going to consider that £19.99 deal in Aldi!

If for example I am buying tools I look to the likes of Bosch, Bacho, Makita, Husqvarna etc. but Rolson and Toolzone still exist. If I am buying car parts I will tend to either buy OEM or genuine, I buy genuine particularly if I cannot be bothered doing my research and working out who made the original part or doing cross referencing. Would I buy Britpart, yes for some things, the little cap that goes over the bolt on my seat-belt is Britpart, the bezel for my rear door lock is Britpart.

Last month I needed to drill a hole through some steel cladding at my business premises, I needed a long metal drill bit to go through the first sheet, through the insulation layer and through the second steel sheet, I had 8 holes to drill. I found the bit I needed from Screwfix for about £19 - I decided given this was probably the first time I needed a long metal drill bit and I only needed to drill 8 holes I would look to eBay - two 7mm x 200mm Toolzone drill bits for £2 or thereabouts inc. delivery. These drills must cost about 10p each to make, they are pretty badly made, the metal is odd and discoloured and they still have stamping marks on the flutes, they are not nice things, but they did the job.

So my point is that there is always someone, me in the case above willing to buy low quality stuff or people forced to buy low quality, some people are always trying to do things cheaply or in my case above wisely, £17 saved and job complete. From decorating homes to fixing cars low quality products will continue to sell.
