I want to fit some stiffer shocks to my p38. There are lots to choose from and alot of price difference. I have seen Monroe's for about £110 up to Koni at about £380.
Whats the difference? The Koni are ajustable of the car, but I'm not bothered about that.

why do you want stiffer shocks? if they have done a fair few miles they'll be performing well below par anyhow. there are lots of standard and gas type replacements around, i just changed mine which were cheapoes but only 18months old and put in monroe gas ones which do control the spring much better but still plenty compliant on the bumpy stuff. if you are after stiffening up the ride to make it handle like a sports car it will shake itself to bits off road, and if you don't intend to take it off road just buy an estate car instead:D

I'm not after another bitter comment. I have had a enough landrover ownership in my time. I am trying to make a one of car.
I keep getting blasted down by truely off roaders.
I have done all that.
I am sticking with landrover, I don't no why. Just like em.
Just stick to the thread man!

i got a set of old man emu on my old 90 the dogs bits mate i had a set of monroes before them and they lasted all of 18 months (at the time i was driving a very ruff lane a few times a week ) the emu's did 3 years and still going strong now

seem like monroe are a bit cheap and nasty. I wont be buying any of them.

yeah can say that for sure mate i changed the back axle in the middle of the life of the monroes and 1 of the threaded ends sheared off when i tried to undo it (only been on about 6 months ) could'nt get a replacement off um either:mad:
had to cough up for 1 only to find about 12 months later the other 3 were fooked!

Damm! Looks like koni is the way to go then. I have uprated alot of cars in my time. But at £380 just seems alot.
I need someone to tell me the way.

I fitted konis to mine after people on here recomended them(9months ago) on setting zero for now..they seem fine, the rides a little harder but the car is better around corners...

monroe are definately at the cheaper end of the scale but i only paid £7 brand new on ebay so if i have to change em next year that's still bloody cheap!
if you cant take a bit of friendly mickey takin maybe you should look about for a forum where they all hug each other!
