After 7 months of nowt but problem after problem, as of 3 pm this afternoon I no longer own my cash pit, otherwise known as a freelander. When it went well it was one of the best cars ive ever had, I did say when.

Enoughs enough, thanks to those on here who tried to guide me through my problems, and best of luck to those of you who have more money than sense and are sticking by the ole Gaylander

hey! Obiwan - I can sympathise - mine was as bad (6.5K in a year) but i dint give up - I stuck around - took some flack (and how) recently decided to get myself a cheap series fur the weekend and have some fun. It aint all lost - yu can still remain a member of the community and, yu never know - yu mite fancy another landy (but not a gaylander) some time in the future when yu have licked ya wounds.

The gaylander is just a badly designed and built car pal, Defenders are much more simple with less electronics and more reliable engines in them. You just chose the wrong Land Rover.

Today I met a fellow old guy with a FL, the FL1 but the latest version, he's very pleased with it, the car has done 60.000 kms in 1-1/2 year as also his son, who is a lawayer and cruising all over the country, uses it. He also mentioned this was his 2nd FL already and liked both as otherwise he wouldn't have taken a 2nd one he said, so .......

I just look at mine as a Rover , then you don't expect too much.

I like the engine, it looks great and the drive system is ,in theory, a superb idea. When it came down to it there was no cash and they botched it, as they always did.

I certainly rattles and bangs like my old Montego and makes me feel at home.

That said, five minutes driving the defender and I start to wonder why I don't just get a series with the same engine fitted and an overdrive.
